Hi everyone ;)

I've got an Ipad and I've saved my datas on my Pc via Itunes as it should.

My PC has given and is not worth repairing.

My question : I have an Ipad Pro 2018 with lOS 13.1.2.
Is it possible to save my datas with an external hard drive without Itunes ?

If yes, thanks to tell me the way to do it.

Using External Drives With Your Mobile Device
Here are the steps to connecting an external storage device to your mobile device:
  1. Connect your external drive to your iPhone or iPad using the Lightning or USB-C port.
  2. Tap on the Files app on your mobile device. On the iPhone, you’ll need to tap Browse in the app.
  3. Select the name of your drive on the left side of the app.

Thanks Davidalan ;)

Only some non-native apps are displayed on "my Ipad"

"Notability" for instance is not there…

Did you find those instructions from somewhere else?

An encrypted iTunes backup contains all necessary data you need to restore on a new (or otherwise empty) device.

You can't achieve the same thing with just the iPad and an external drive.

Thank you Puonti ;)

Do that mean that if I change my Ipad to another one it wil not be restore completely as a clone of the first one ?

(that is important for to know it me because I am going to change my Ipad that has an issue with the reactivity of the touch system and it will be sad not to recover all my datas )

If you have an encrypted iTunes backup you can restore a complete clone of your original iPad to another iPad.

If you have an UNencrypted iTunes backup you can still restore it to a new iPad, but you won't have your saved passwords, WiFi settings and website history on the new iPad (unless you are syncing those via iCloud on the original iPad, and continue using the same Apple ID on the new iPad).

Note that your new iPad needs to have the same or newer iOS version as the original iPad did.

Can you tell me what will be missing ?

You will be missing everything except whatever files you or apps have added to iCloud Drive or in the folders under "On My iPad".

The external harddrive won't have your emails, messages, notes, voice memos, calendars, reminders, music, photos, apps, etc. None of those are stored under "iCloud Drive" or "On My iPad" in the Files app. They are stored in separate, inaccessible locations.
