I'm going to grab a Series 3 Blk in aluminum this weekend and I am definitely a person who sweats a lot while in the gym. Just wondering how the watch holds up to sweating, I mean does it corrode over time, or wear away the finish?
Thanks in advance

If you use weights I advise either going with SS or using a case cover for the Aluminum Watch. Aluminum chips pretty easily. If you're more a runner you should be fine, but it does not hold up to beating it up like weight lifting, crossfit, etc. I use the SS. I originally had a Aluminum, but took it back because working out with it made me nervous. The weight is nicer with Aluminum, but the durability of the SS is tough to beat. Then again, with a good case you can combat this if price is an issue.

With the 7000 series aluminum, it's fairly corrosion resistant. I have read very few cases or heard of any type of pitting or corrosion with the aluminum from sweat. Although it can happen, I would say it's rare. I would just make sure to wipe the Apple Watch down with a damp microfiber cloth when you're through your workout.

I thought about the stainless, but honestly I'm pointing towards keeping costs low. Seeing what resale prices are after a year or two when it's upgrade time, the aluminum will work just fine. I do have a case already from a previous watch, I just have been out of the gym while I owned that watch.

Yeah I haven't heard much about it either, but I wanted to ask the folks who've used them, especially the older series watches. Just to see how they're holding up. Thanks.

As much as I like the stainless model Apple Watch, it actually doesn't hold a lot more value over the aluminum watch when considering resale from a standpoint. So the aluminum is likely the better Buy.

Is this going to be your first Apple Watch purchase? The aluminum is also nice to have, because it's 40% lighter than the stainless. As some really appreciate that when running or other types of fitness.

I Agree on both. I'm seeing S2 stainless selling as cheap as even some cases cheaper than the aluminum watches. I did have a couple, I had a Hermes S0, and then a S2 aluminum and the difference in weight never bothered me. Some say the aluminum feels too cheap, but I never thought that at all. It's just lighter. I'm now ready to get back into the gym, so neither of those saw workout duty. At least while I owned them.

Here is my retired/backup S0 after about 2100 Workouts, including about 700 weight training and about 700 showers.

I wear mine 23/7, including 2 1/2 hours of workouts a day, mostly aerobic. I definitely sweat. No issues with an aluminum Nike+ Sport. I got the LTE version for a variety of reasons. I expect that the ceramic rear sensor housing will hold up better over time than the composite version on the wifi/gps version. I have not had any issues with "chipping" (scratches, dings, etc.) and I am a person who definitely tends to bump into things.

I would consider myself a very active person (weightlifting 1.5hrs 4x/wk, kung fu 2.5 hrs 4x/wk, running 45min 2-3x/wk). I wear the Nike Space Gray aluminum watch for all exercise except for maybe 45 minutes during the kung fu when I'm actually sparring with a partner and have not noticed any wear or corrosion, so I wouldn't worry at all.
