I am having a hard time deciding between the non touch bar, and the touch bar model of the 13".
Now, the speed difference doesn't bother me, neither does the Touch Bar or the price. I have an order for the Touch Bar model placed, with delivery December 12-16th.

What does bother me is noise. I have tested the non Touch Bar model, and during full load i saw fan speeds of roughly 4.5-5k RPM with temps of roughly 90c. But that model only has 1 fan, while the Touch Bar model has 2.

Could anyone with the Touch Bar model test fan speed and temps under full GPU and CPU load at the same time? Or basically anything that maxes out the chip, such as a game without vsync.

I know this isn't normal usage, but i would like to play a game now and then without having a fan blasting away at 5k RPM.

Any help is much appreciated.

The two fans of the Touch Bar MacBook Pro are here for a reason : bigger CPU and dedicated graphic cpu for the bigger model.

You will not be able to play on laptop machine by Apple without fans kicking, at least not with 3D games.

I'll be honest, the touch-bar version, although having two fans, is likely to be just as noisy if not more noisy. It is powering a more powerful CPU/iGPU and higher speed RAM. Then you have the additional processor powering touch bar.

I mean even 15" runs noisy while playing games, to be honest all MacBooks just go a bit mad when you play games (except the 12" of course) - it isn't down to non-touch bar version having only 1 fan.

I would love to know how the machine works and cools itself down with FCP X in the editing phase without export or rendering. My iMac with an external display screams all the time now and it's driving me nuts.

I'm fine with some fan noise, but the high pitch sound of the fan on the base model at 5k was rather annoying. I was hoping the Touch Bar models two fans would be able to do the same work at lower RPM, as there is two of them.

Thing is, the base model drew almost 30W at full load (GPU + CPU), despite being a 15W part. I thought maybe the Touch Bar model (which is a 28W part) wouldn't be that much higher (maybe 35-40W since the CPU and GPU is only 5-10% faster) meaning quite a bit less power for each fan to handle. I'm not expecting any of them to be quiet while gaming, i just hoped there would be a way to do a tiny bit of gaming without the machine screaming at over 5k RPM :)
