To use or not use iMessage?

I'm really curious, do you use iMessage or not?
I ask this, since I change devices often, and I don't like being tied to a device for a feature or service. Another reason I hated when BBM wasn't available on multiple platforms. But, I digress...

So, iMessage or not?

As pretty much with any other phone I just use the included messaging app to send text messages, be they regular texts or iMessages (in case of iOS, where it just decides on its own). Here and there if someone else might be using something else at the time, like Hangouts, or Facebook Messenger, or Skype, or WhatsApp or something like that, I'll use that to talk to that person if I need to.

It's my go to instant msg app now. Especially because you can share location, video, pictures, links, etc without much hassle.

I can't say i am a big fan of the stickers and other nonsense they've added. But maybe it's because i am turning 40 soon

It is however the only app on my phone in ios 9.3 and 10.0 that really makes the battery drain visually compared to being on ft video or skype or other apps i use, games including. Very odd.

imessage and skype and facbook messenger is what I use depending on who I'm contacting.

imessage is great as can use my imac and macbook to contact my fiancee iphone SE.

Obviously iMessage for those, that have it. If not, then WhatsApp or FB Messenger. Or regular SMS.

When someone sends me a message, I reply on the app they used. That's about the amount of thought I put into things like this.

iMessage is one of the reasons why I'm going from a Note 5 back to an iPhone. I love being able to use iMessage on the iMac.

Most of my friends seem to use WhatsApp instead so I end up using that more, even though the quick reply feature with that is less well implemented than with iMessage
