Toast 10 Platinum DVD conversion speed

Hi all,

Trying to burn an AVI for DVD using Toast 10 and it's pretty slow. "Encoding" right now, and the progress is about 1% per minute. Any way to speed this up? Any more suitable program to use to convert?

Specs: 3.06ghz, 8gb RAM
