Hi guys, I'm quite new to :apple: world and I need your advice about installing a .toast app file.

When I click on the .toast file I need to install I get the usual window you get when clicking on a .dmg file. When I doubleclick on the install icon I get this message:

Application Launch Failure:

The application "appname Install" could not be lanched because of a shared library error: "<BaseInstaller Carbon>"

Am I missing any carbon library? I've never installed such thing so I guess I lack this kind of library and i don't know the correct one to install or how to.

Can anyone help me out please?

thanks a lot! :)

You could compare the system requirements for that version of the application and your own system. It sounds like it's not an installer package, so it could be that it's an old installer that doesn't function properly. (I have seen instances where the installer wasn't compatible even though the application once installed actually was.)

Duff-Man says.....first of all, you are new to the forum so please take a moment to read the forum rules (no "bump" posts) - it's just common courtesy when joining a moderated forum to have some idea as to what's allowed and what isn't.

As to your problem - what exactly are you trying to install and where did you get it from? I am not aware of software legitimately distributed as .toast images and if you are dealing with "shady" stuff then you need to be careful in regards to tampered files, and also go back to paragraph one about reading the forum rules.....oh yeah!
