Toast only burning at 1x??

I'm using Toast Titanium 11 on my 15" McBook Pro core Duo with Snow Leopard and 16x blank DVDs (DVD-R I think) and even though I set the recorder settings to burn at 16x it's only doing 1x for the Current and Average Write Speed? This is for a Data disk.

Any ideas why?

Update Toast to the newest version. That fixed it for me.
