They seem incapable of looking beyond the design.

Let's be honest, the 8/8+ are pretty weak upgrades from the 7/7+. They have: wireless charging, a faster chip....and, well, that's about it. There are a few other minor tweaks and improvements, but overall, that's basically it. It'll be a good upgrade for 6 and 6S owners, but otherwise, it's pretty unremarkable. It also is notably heavier due to the change to glass....the 8+ is a HEAVY phone. It's heavier than the Note 8, despite being slightly smaller and thinner.

you mentioned its a weak upgrade from the 7. You know that are a ''few'' people upgrading their 5S/6/6S to the 8 (Plus), right? ;)

Yeah, I was updating my post as you replied. But still, considering the improvements everyone made in the industry from last year to this year, the still premium priced 8 and 8+ stand out for not being a very minor upgrade. I know they didn't want to steal the X's thunder, but IMO, they should have just gone straight to the X (at $100-$150 cheaper price point) and not done the 8 at all....let the 7 fill that upper midrange gap for the next year. I think they're quite overpriced in comparison to the competition right now.

I wouldnt even say full reviews are out yet. Some camera reviews and most others are just unboxing the new gold 8 and 8 Plus and telling us specs we already know.

I can understand the logic of not updating from the 7, but coming from the 6S+ for myself it will seem more of an upgrade.
