Today's Date format - Photos watch face

I have a conundrum I can't find an answer to - what dictates the date format used as Today's Date field in AW face complications. See the attached examples, the name of the month seems to appear and disappear for no obvious reason. And I'd like to make sure it's always there. Any ideas how/why this is happening?

I guess this is the way the way the Potos watchface works. It changes sometimes. But never without month so foar.
Here it always look like picture one - with one difference: I changes depending on the picture: Sometimes "waterfall" on one side, sometimes centered on top or bottom or both.
