Just out of curiosity, how many iPhone 5 units will Apple say they have sold over the weekend.

Last year the iPhone 4S did 4,000,000 in its launch weekend.

So what are your predictions?

Personally I am hoping for 8,000,000 (double last year).....

I already saw the numbers that'll be released tomorrow.

One of you is VERY close.

Do they include pre-orders that have not been shipped, and thus, credit card has not been charged yet?

That would make a huge difference.

My order, for example, for two iPhone 5's, is still back order status and the card has not been charged.

I say 4 million only because they had less for this release then they did last year, also there were a lot of returns from what I saw in my Apple store because of defects, so I am assuming they did have a lot of defect this year.

But I could be wrong....

See I thought that as well, but since we have been seeing leaks for months now, I would assume they have been mass producing them for months with anticipation for high demand...

Hmm I would guess 4-8 million. Definitely not more than 8mil. But it's gotta be at least 4 million if there were 2 million preorders in the first day.

No. If they include them - total will be more than 10 million easily.

Even if there's returns of 100+k, sales this weekend should be at least 2 times than last year. It sounds like they manufactured at least double the supplies last year.
