I have a TomTom VIA620 navigator. I run the TomTom software that is used to update the GPS's maps and software. However, I have problems with the Mac Mini recognising it.

When I plug it in the GPS will see a USB connection (a symbol of a PC shows up) but the Mac and the TT software doesn't see it as being connected.

Sometimes it will be recognised and I can then apply updates. But mostly it doesn't work.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Thanks.

I have the same problem with my Tom Tom, but it's never recognised. I haven't found a fix for this. The workaround that I had to do is login to Bootcamp and do it via Windows. I know that's not really a solution though.

Thanks Seb. The other option is to install the TomTom software onto my wife's PC and sync it from there, but I'd rather see if there's a fix for it on the Mini. Or, I can try and sync it on the Macbook Air.

Whatever, it's the only peripheral that I have any issues with. I have a Garmin navigator, works fine with Garmin Express, as does a Garmin Vivoactive sports watch. None of my portable HDDs or thumbdrives have problems being recognised either. Just this one device.

Indeed. It is just this device and I have never had issues with other devices connected via USB. I suspect that it's the TomTom OS X software.
