Ok, well I truly didn't notice this until I installed leopard, i KNOW it has nothing to do with it, but it was weird.

Anyways, in the bottom right corner of my new 24 inch Alu iMac (Purchased Oct. 13, 2007), I can count about 30-40 dead pixels, all sort of in a cluster. Its weird because there are ones that seem real big (the 30-40) , and a ton of smaller ones.

Now I have read about Apples policy with dead pixels, but this many is just ridiculous. Does anyone know how it works if I have the apple care for my mac? Should I be able to exchange it?

Are you sure they are not software dead pixels? Try rebooting the machine as I have seen some store units with this issue. The fact that some are different sizes suggests a non hardware solution.

Either way, you should certainly be able to exchange it. 30-40 stuck pixels is ridiculous, especially if they're stuck in the same general area.

Let us know how it turns out. :)

    check again in the morning...
i was running iTunes visualizer full screen shortly after i got my alu iMac and after running it for a few hours, i saw four "dead pixels" in the upper left of my screen. i was horrified. apple's policy was for five. my display had been flawless up until that day. they looked exactly like dead pixels too - four black pixels. i ran the stuck pixel web sites to no avail. then i put my comp to sleep and went to bed. they were gone in the morning and haven't shown up since. that was over a month ago. my screen is perfect now.
you may not have the same experience, but then again, you just might! :)
