Too bad they didn't use the aluminum from the iPod touch

wow, the darker iPod touch is cooler! why apple didn't put that kind of dark into the iPhone 5???? NOOOO!!!
 
Could be possible that signal doesn't penetrate through the iPod touch shell (which explains that little plastic cover for the WiFi on the iPod) but aren't the antennas on the iPhone 5 on the sides of the phone?
 
The color is simply from the choice of dye used to color the oxide layer produced by the anodization process. It can pretty much be anything you want. The iP5 is a lighter slate simply because that's what Apple spec'ed in. I like the slate.
 
It would have been nice if the form factor of the iPod touch 5 is the form factor of the iPhone 5. Of course, it will be a little bit thicker but it would have been nice to have the rounded edges. More ergonomical.

there's no way you're ever going to get the same back from the ipod on an iphone. unless you want a million people rushing to mac rumors to complain about bad reception of the new iphone because it has an all aluminum back. BACKGATE!

I just meant the darker shade of black, not the actual design of the backing.

But isn't that why the top and bottom of the backplate is glass?
 
That black looks sooooooooo much better than the iP5 black!

I would have probably went with the black iP5 if it would have looked like that.
