M MFalcon94 macrumors newbie Original poster Jun 10, 2010 #3 Am I going to need both torx? or just one? I have everything else already. The drive should be here tomorrow. I could go buy the screwdriver at a store and not wait a week to install my new drive.

cloroxbleach4 macrumors 6502a Jun 10, 2010 #4 I don't remember using a torx when I replaced my harddrive. All I used was a Phillips. It's been awhile though, so I may be wrong.

RedRaven571 macrumors 65816 Jun 10, 2010 #5 For my late 2008 15" MBP, I needed a #6 Torx to unscrew the HDD from the caddy; got it at Lowe's for $6.

cloroxbleach4 macrumors 6502a Jun 10, 2010 #6 Ahh, that's right. You need a Torx 6 to undo the 4 screws on the harddrive so it'll cradle it.
sn0warmy macrumors 6502a Jun 10, 2010 #7 Just put an SSD drive in my brand new MBP last night. Tools needed: 1) #00 Phillips head 2) T6 Torx 3) approximately 1 beer of any type.

C Celeron macrumors 6502a Jun 11, 2010 #14 I picked up the iFixIt toolset: http://www.ifixit.com/Tools/54-Piece-Bit-Driver-Kit/IF145-022 $20, but you can find $5 off coupons online in about 10 seconds. I used it to replace the drive in my 15'' i7. I would not have been able to do it without the bits in here.
