Tools to test hardware performance?

Running Mac OS X 10.7.4 and I was just wondering if there were any tools/apps that allow you to test your hardware to make sure it's fully operational, for instance, if you have USB 3.0 is it really running at USB 3.0 speed, etc.

If you want to test specifically USB 3.0 speeds, then download DiskSpeedTest by Black Magic on the App store.
