Works fine for me. I have satellite radio so rarely listen to podcasts, especially driving. Way easier to punch through presets and not worry about having to screw around with an app.

I only support those podcasters that have very few subscribers and that I agree with their message. I never will give $ to those who have 5 million+ subscribers!

Whats the best podcast app these days? Apple podcast app continues to be terrible
Another vote for Overcast. Marco Arment has done a really nice job with it. The code for shortening pauses between words and such works really well.

At the bottom of the Settings page, it says, "Smart Speed has saved you an extra 73 hours beyond speed adjustments alone."

The nice thing about the podcast app is that it's available on all apple devices, meaning I can listen to them from my Apple TV and Mac as well. I get that Marco Arment is a 1-man outfit, and so he rightfully prioritises development for the iPhone and iPad, but I wish it were also available on the ATV.

I went back to the podcast app for a while and felt that the experience wasn't all bad. You lack the frills like smart speed, but my use case is basically to download a podcast and play it, and it's not a very high bar to clear. I am back on Overcast now that it supports widgets, but I don't really find the difference between the two to be like night and day.

This is my biggest (only?) complaint with Overcast - that I can't play it through the Apple TV, so, if I want a podcast to play through the speakers in the living room, I have to AirPlay it from my phone. It feels like it'd take a lot less work to support the ATV than it does to support the Watch (since the platform is so much less constrained), but I guess he sees more utility there. In practice, I end up listening to podcasts mostly in the car and on walks.
