Why do they have all these great features and then hide them so people don’t even know they exist?

they need to figure out a way to let the users see where they can force/3d touch.... almost noone is going to hard press on everything just to try it out....

Maybe the people who don't see any problem with this are just feeling proud of themselves for discovering these secret tricks. Or maybe they think that since they had to spend the time hard pressing everything, so should everyone else.

BTW, if you think looking for hidden Force Touch commands is annoying, try all those hidden Mac OS tricks that involve holding down the Option key to expose hidden menu bar commands or hidden buttons in dialog boxes!

They aren't hidden. That's like saying you never knew Mario could jump cause you never pressed the B button or why is copy and paste hidden away with a key command.

I certainly never knew that - probably because the B button was for throwing fireballs and running fast. The A button was for jumping. And all that was in the instruction booklet that was included with the game.

As for jumping all over the screen to find green mushrooms: While easter eggs and secret tricks are tolerated by game players, they should not be considered commonplace for productivity use.

The keyboard commands for Copy, Cut, Paste are clearly displayed next to the command when clicking the Edit menu. As for right clicking, Apple's user interface guidelines state that context menus should never be the only way to access a command (it would be nice if Apple followed their own rules in MacOS). So people looking for keyboard commands should find them in the menus.

Force Touch is the functional equivalent of a right click, that has the discoverability of the option key alternatives of menu options.

Exactly!

They are all well documented. This is unfortunately click-bait buzzfeed type bollocks.

Yeah, I didn't know about it either, until just now - but why can't you reorder the list items? It'd be simpler to manage than rearranging the grid icons...

Personally I prefer that they are in alphabetical order. Makes everything predictable and easy to whizz through with the crown.

Nice stuff! Thanks for that Macrumors :)
I think the music one only works if you are playing music through your phone (and controlling it with the watch) and when you set it to airplay, it just sets your phone to airplay.
As far as I know you can’t directly airplay from the watch.

These are some very useful tips I didn't know about being a first time AW3 user. Thank you.

I only have the series 3 Apple watch but like all new tech one of the first things I do after playing around for a little while is do a search for "Hidden Features" articles because I know there will be many little features that may take a long time to discover on my own or by accident.
For example I've had this watch for 4 months but only just discovered that I can write replies to text messages if I choose the little keyboard in reply options. I can then draw the letters on the screen to compose a reply complete with punctuation.
Today I also read an article on "Hidden" features and discovered you can change the default replies to text messages in message settings in the phone app watch on the iPhone.
PS I changed to the grid view for apps on the watch first week I had it but for some reason the app view in the iphone watch app remains as the grid "bubble" view.
