Been waiting for an 11" air for ages now and im finally going to order...Definalty want the 11" after recenlty getting rid of my vaio TZ.

What i want to know is if i connect this upto my 30" monitor at a res of 2560 x 1600 do you think it will cope or struggle?

I plan on using the air as my main machine for a few months until they refresh the MBP again.

I only plan on doing light tasks web browsing .etc

Is the 1.6ghz CPu going to be a problem driving this size res or is it pretty much down to the GPU?

    Many thanks

    It will work:

Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

GPU controls the display and 320M should be more than fine unless it's heavily underclocked. Of course depends what you do. If you're doing something GPU intensive such as gaming, then 320M isn't enough. For basic usage, it will drive the 30" just fine.

The "struggle" isn't going to depend so much on the resolution, it's what you're asking the computer to do at that resolution.

If you're banging out spreadsheets or checking Twitter on 2560x1600 you probably won't have a problem. If you try playing Crysis at that res you probably will.
