Apple Product Roadmap 2023–24: Over 15 New Devices in Development

Apple is working on at least a dozen new devices set to launch between late 2023 and early 2024, according to an updated product roadmap shared by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman explained that Apple is planning to launch two Apple Watch Series 9 models and a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra alongside the iPhone 15 lineup this fall. He also listed various M3 Macs in the pipeline and said that Apple has started early work on a larger iMac with over a 30-inch display.

Apple Reportedly Developing Larger iMac With Over 30-Inch Display

Apple is in the early stages of developing a new iMac with over a 30-inch display, according to Gurman. He said this iMac remains "further out," suggesting that it might be at least a year or two away from launching.

Excluding refurbished models, the iMac is currently only available in a 24-inch size, as Apple discontinued the Intel-based 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro over the last few years. Despite occasional rumors about the iMac Pro making a comeback, there is still no larger iMac with Apple silicon available.

watchOS 10: Top Five New Features

watchOS 10 is one of the biggest software updates ever for the Apple Watch. In a recent post and YouTube video, we highlighted five of the top new features introduced with watchOS 10, including the Smart Stack, which lets you scroll through widgets.

watchOS 10 will be released later this year for the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer, and the update is currently available in beta for users with an Apple developer account.

Here's How Interactive Widgets Work in macOS Sonoma

In macOS Sonoma, Apple has changed the widgets landscape. No longer do widgets have to be hidden offscreen and largely forgotten in the Notifications Center panel. Now they live right on your desktop – and they're interactive, too.

iPhone 13 Pro vs. 15 Pro: What to Expect if You've Waited to Upgrade

While year-over-year iPhone upgrades are not always significant, new features begin to stack up over multiple generations. For this reason, the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will be a notable upgrade for those who still have a two-year-old iPhone 13 Pro.

I’m willing to bet the price increase is either an explicative to the EU or to have payment for services such as iCloud‌ Private Relay, Hide My Email, etc. which was offered as free.

I but annoyed since the ability to have other email addresses as aliases can no longer be done. Something I wasn’t aware of until after accepting it.

A new 30 inch iMac that is mostly all screen and smaller than the 27 inch model would be great. Perhaps it needs to be a bit thicker to get rid of ugly bottom of screen wide bezel. I think it would knock sales out of the park.
The iMac chin isn’t ugly and is a way to bring the bottom of the iMac screen higher off the desk and closer to the sitter’s eye level while retaining a tidier look of the whole computer being lower down, and also where the speakers can more readily bounce and be amplified off the desk surface.

To fix the iMac I’d give it height as well as tilt adjustment. The body needs to be thicker to house more voluminous speaker chambers and to allow for better airflow for cooling: none of this silly ultra-thin iMac nonsense.

Another area of obvious improvement would be a real collection of ports. Depth ensures this is no problem. And I’d like them to copy the Mac Studio setup with SD Card and two USB-C ports located front-side in addition to all the rear ports, which should include Ethernet built into the iMac (AIO should not have a power brick). Some USB-A included would be nice too.

Another possibility which should but likely won’t happen are front-firing speakers.

Personal request: the return of great wired peripherals from Apple. 99% of people are better off with wired desktop peripherals. They may not be as sexy but functionally they are much better and require no batteries.

Unbelievable, how can any company put up your subscription with no notification! I’ve received nothing yet I see my subscription has gone up 25%..Thanks Apple.. I’ll be pulling all none essential stuff back off iCloud & switching to Amazon cloud pics for sync, it’s convenient to have but not vital. I have other backups already.

These suggestions are all too practical for today’s Apple. I don’t know what happened with the MacBook Pro. I think they did the right thing making it slightly heavier in exchange for more functionality. They seem to have taken the opposite tactic with their desktop computers, ironically. Except the Studio. So maybe this indicates that today’s Apple actually agrees with you but it’s taking time to get through the pipeline.

There’s no telling what they are up to. They’re a dangerous lot. They’ll likely include some terrible head-scratching decisions. It’ll probably have more ports but won’t be anywhere near as practical as it could easily be. Some masochistic choices no doubt. Just because.

I think it likely we’ll see an M3 iMac 24 by the end of this year. I’m skeptical of a 30+ inch iMac, but then a bigger iMac coming in similarly priced as the MacBook Pro 14in. (and up) could happen.

The Mac Studio is the machine built for practicality (and as a result, is a relatively giant and ugly lump.) The iMac has a different role to play: a sleek yet functional machine that appeals to more casual users and graces many a reception desk. Many of us have spent years moaning that Serious Professionals Doing Heavy Duty Computing had to choose between an all-in-one, with all the inflexibility and thermal limitations that the form factor implies, and the overkill Mac Pro, and now we’ve gotten our wish in the Studio; isn’t it a little ungrateful to demand that the iMac also conform to the heavy-duty use case?

Not to mention removing interest-free financing in Canada. Cook's getting greedy
Apple had nothing to do with that. Affirm bought out the company (PayBright) that Apple had partnered with to offer the 0% financing.

Oh, I think I get it... Apple should have stepped in, offered more for PayBright than what Affirm did, and then take over PayBright so Canadians could continue to get 0% financing. Ah, in that case, yes, it's totally 100% Apple's fault.

Damn you, Apple! 😡

That's also how Cook turned Apple into this Apple

🤣

That's also how Cook turned Apple into a Walmart.

Slowing down the storage of all base models of M2-series to make people to pay for the upgrade is very unprofessional.

Looking forward to his stepping down. Do we have to wait for at least three more years?

The Mac Studio Max is a killer device and I certainly don’t begrudge it. But I bristle at the cost of the Studio Display even with its built-in sound system.

In terms of performance the device I want is somewhere between the current M1 iMac and the base Mac Studio. The price I’d be comfortable with, for what I want, would be around that of the current MacBook Pro 14. But…

- I don’t like laptops despite their popularity.
- I like the AIO form factor even though I know the separate desktop unit objectively makes more sense.
- I’m spoiled by Apple’s design, aesthetic and build quality. To me the rest of the computer market looks cheap even when you spend a lot of money. And I hate Windows.
- If the forthcoming M3 iMac 24 doesn’t deliver what I want, which I think unlikely, I could see myself going for an Apple refurbished Mac Studio and refurb Studio Display.
- It’s not impossible a new bigger iMac could fit my needs, but it’s presently wait-and-see.

Yes, 3 more years and another $1 billion-plus added to Apple's market cap. Damn.

Received a warning here in the Uk by email, but was surprised it was 20%. It’s only a few pennies per month, but proportionally it’s a lot, at a time of rampant inflation and price hikes everywhere…. but 20% overnight with and no prospect of more storage (as in GB per GBP) feels a bit bait and switch. And whilst I really don’t resent anybody making a profit, and I’m all in with the Apple walled garden, but the optics and PR of this the same week as their modest valuation (!) is a trifle irksome!
