White is still showing up as available to me, but Space Gray is sold out. I’m using the Apple Store app.Homepod is dead on the Apple Site. There is an entry, but the button to add it to your bag is disabled.
The iMac Pro did fit a certain niche but obviously not enough for most people to justify the extra cost. When we were upgrading our post studio a few years back we went for Pro’s instead of i9 iMac’s because the latter still only has 1 thunderbolt bus spread over 2 ports. When you need a second 4K screen and an IO box (plus at the time a thunderbolt to 10G converter for the regular iMac) that’s just not enough thunderbolt bus power. The iMac Pro solved that by having 2 busses over 4 ports. That problem still exists but at least with iMac’s having a 10G option now it’s less of a concern.RIP iMac Pro and soon the big boy HomePod. I can also see why they are taking the iMac Pro away. Nobody wanted to buy it because of how expensive it was. it was Pro but it was just too expensive. I'm also looking forward to the new Apple Silicon MacBooks. And maybe AirPods 3 depending on how good they are and if they get a new chip. and they aren't crazy expensive like the AirPods Max.
Why, it's a great product. Sound is superb. And as I noted in another thread, if the level of performance stays the same for the next 10 years, I will have gotten my moneys' worth from it. Of course in 10 years, advancements in the field of computational sound will make the HomePod sound like a tin-can speaker. But that's the way it goes.HomePod at $200 would have sold very well...
I feel bad for those who bought it.
It’s sound may have been superior to the Amazon Echo Plus, but the lack of plugins (Skills), made it not so appealing.
$150 is selling it short. It's a solid $200 device, all day long. You said yourself that you've never listened to one. If you think the mini is impressive for the size, the big one would totally blow you away. We own one of each. Both great for their respective sizes. If I find any places offering remaining stock for $199, I'll be buying at least 2 more original HomePods.I think the sweet spot for many people (including myself) would have been $150.00. As it is, I have been happy with my minis thus far. If I see a HomePod at that price point or cheaper, I may get one just to see what it sounds like compared to the mini.
Judging by the comments to buy a 27in. iMac it puts in doubt a new silicon iMac?RIP iMac Pro and soon the big boy HomePod. I can also see why they are taking the iMac Pro away. Hopefully it’s just being overlooked here and it does receive another refresh ASAP. I’m happy with my Air 4, but I could easily see myself picking up a Mini 6 or 7 as a backup iPad. I had the 4 and 5, and only upgraded the 4 because it was lacking a modern processor and replaced the 5 with the Air 4 because the Mini needs a redesign. Let’s get rid of that home button please, and add just a tiny bit more screen real estate. Thanks, Apple! So no new Ipad mini ??![]()
I hope I can buy any redesign ARM Mac. Maybe with an updated M1 ? It is allowed to hope.Redesigned ARM based iMac for Easter? Santa Tim is coming early!
I do agree it's a great product. The speaker and microphone array is impressive. Well designed. Why, it's a great product. Sound is superb. I have prime so Amazon Music comes with it, and I admit it's pretty good. However, I dislike Alexa. I don't use the echo dot that was given to me as a present. I suppose I could stream Amazon Music to the Homepod, but why bother?I do agree it's a great product. The speaker and microphone array is impressive. Well designed.
I feel bad for those who invested their money on them and now Apple is abandoning it in favor of the smaller version. This is what I was afraid of, and one of the reasons why I decided to wait before getting buying them.
Another reason is that so far the Amazon Echo has a lot more features and functionality. I get Amazon Music included with Amazon Prime, plus I have a mixed environment with HomeKit and SmartHome.
With Alexa and can control both, something I still can't do with the HomePod. The you can add Skills to it and get more functionality out of it. HomePod? I don't think you can do it yet.
True, but at this point, to me Alexa seems to be the smartest of all. It's very flexible in comparison to Siri. Only sometimes it becomes deaf and dumb, but that also happens to Siri sometimes.I have prime so Amazon Music comes with it, and I admit it's pretty good. However, I dislike Alexa. I got many are into their smart assistants. I'm not, and none of them are great yet.
I hope MacRumors is not publishing misleading information about Apple "discontinuing the HomePod". Does "discontinuing" mean a new one is coming.
HomePod probably doesn't sell more because when it came out it was perceived as limited. For example, it couldn't connect to third-party services like Spotify. The HomePod should connect to everything, whatever the user wants.
I bought a HomePod today based on MacRumors saying it is discontinued. I will not buy a HomePod mini because I listen to music every day. I want the better speaker.
It's going to be tough to say no to a Space Gray iMac 27" with M1 processor and 1TB SSD![]()
