If you’ve been paying attention, this has always been the case since the first iPhone came out. Major releases are always ridden with bugs, and so are the newly released iPhones. Hardware issues might pop up, which they will fix with their next batch of iPhones in production. Right now, you’re beta testing Apple’s hardware AND software before late adopters eventually get them. This is why I wait them out for several months before getting the latest iPhone or install the latest iOS update.
I agree completely - wifey needed a new phone, old one died. Oh I've learned to never buy version 1 lesson, but my hands were tied.

My IPhone 13 Pro Max has this annoying issue:

FaceID cannot be set up.

The FaceID worked out of the box, now after installing 15.01, my FaceID is dead. I tried to set it up again (deleted the old...) and the phone wont recognize anyone's face. You get the standard "move the phone a little lower" screen.

I hope there is a fix coming for this.... I don't want to go to the apple store and swap out my phone....

Has anyone else experienced this?

Definitely get it swapped or even return it before the grace period, as it might be a hardware issue. This also incentivizes Apple not to mess up core features of the iPhone in the future.

Don't forget the bug where the screen does not respond to touches. Happened to my wife's 13 pro and the power button stopped working for long press as well, which made it almost impossible to reboot the phone. Thankfully there is another method to reboot where you press the volume key up then down and right away press the power key, otherwise her phone would be a "brick".

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah... I'd say "focus" is something Apple really has lost. One could argue they are stretched thin due to the sheer number of products and services they have - but then you remember the huge workforce they have, and plentiful supply of funds. That said, as a software developer I know adding more people to a project to get things done simply does not work (unless you have a really good project lead that is laser focused, and knows when to stop).

It really does feel like people (Apple) don't focus on the little things anymore. And things that were really well thought out, and well made (by people in Apple that did focus, in days gone by) get removed - usually to be later replaced by something supposedly better, yet markedly worse.

Everyone makes mistakes. Through mistakes we tend to find better ways, and if we let go of the things we are stuck on and head in the direction we know is better (due to the lessons learned) we can actually make something better. I think that that is something that Apple has done, a lot of, in the past. Usually the mistakes stay inside Apple. But more and more they are slipping through. Are people inside Apple too afraid to point out "this isn't the right way"? I dunno.

There's a lot more on my mind, but I'll leave it there.
