Funny perhaps, but likely backwards. Sentiment outside of MacRumors and 9to5Mac is uniformly negative towards Apple over this story.

There's a growing pile of investigations into Apple's practices around the world. I'm sure we'll see a whole spectrum of conclusions reached - I don't think anyone would disagree with me on that? This is going to lead to Apple having to make changes. They could just make the changes in how the app store or IAP works in some regions, but I find that unlikely. It'd be a major crack in Apple's armor and lead to more governments demanding the same changes get made in their part of the world. Apple could just withdraw from some smaller countries, but that contraction would (rightfully) spook investors.

I think Apple will most likely make major changes. Maybe those changes will be revealed at WWDC 2021 and roll out in iOS 15? Apple would want to save face and make it look like they're doing it of their own accord because they want to and like they've planned it since iPhone OS 3, 12 years ago. But... that just seems like it's too far away. Governments will demand changes sooner than that.
Some of this could be true and then nothing may happen. Nobody can predict the future. Apple already has their plan based on how some of this turns out. But I don't see them allowing unregulated app stores to come in and basically steal their business.

EPIC was eliminated by EPIC. They apparently don't mind the pay situation with the any of the other "partners," Microsoft, Sony, etc. -- all of whom collect the same 30% for their presence on those consoles.

I don't think I will buy another iPhone until Apple can figure out Touch ID underneath the screen as others have already.

I liked when Apple was a forward technology company, not stuck in their ways. With COVID issues with Face ID, even Steve Jobs would have admitted the mistake and fixed it by now.

I just don't get this dislike of FaceID. I've always put it down to being commentators who don't actually buy Apple products that are envious/angry that their preferred platform/vendor hasn't caught up with FaceID's tech.

Ever since I got the iPhoneX I've absolutely detested TouchID. It often failed for me.
Yet my iPhoneX recognises me regardless which of my 4 different pairs of glasses I'm wearing or wearing none at all.
My wife now uses my old iPhone 6 and she's given up with TouchID.
I detest TouchID so much that I even replaced my old iPad with an iPad Pro just to get FaceID.
The UI with TouchID is clunky I find. It just irritates me no end going back to it.
Really hoping the new ARM Mac's come with FaceID...

My mom has a Huawei phone (we are in Asia), the model where the power button is the fingerprint scanner, I set up my fingerprint as a test, works surprisingly well, a little iffy when setting up since the button is so narrow unlike a full circular front or back scanner. That's from a one time test and not daily usage though, normally she doesn't lock her phone :D

I think the power button on an iPad would be intuitive as well, because your index finger is reaching for that anyway, and you can setup your the thumb on your other hand for the times when you pick up the iPad upside down, as in left hand thumb, right hand index finger... but what about when it's picked up horizontally?? I suppose that would mean four fingerprint IDs for maximum convenience 👍👉👎👈. That sounds inconvenient, but it's more troublesome to always spin the iPad around for your index finger or thumb. My mom does need a new iPad one of these days, hers is really really old (and slow), but she isn't going to lock it anyways, so fingerprint whatever.

"Touch ID Power Button"

To all those people on this site who laughed when I said the TouchID would return to compliment FaceID. Take note.

Apple claims that it treats all developers the same. Supposedly Amazon got a deal in which Apple did not take a 30 percent cut of payments from a certain Amazon application. Both of these cannot be true. Either Apple is lying about treating all developers the same, or Amazon is lying about getting this deal from Apple. Which is it?
