Or, conversely, those major products may bring attention to lesser known products

In a way, they already do that. They fill up what could be a 5 minute product announcement with 1.5 hours of messaging on every little feature you might look over and how they will (supposedly) make your life amazing.

That said, with the pent up demand for pro hardware, I don't think a drawn out, separate announcement around the laptop is really necessary to drive sales!

M1X MacBook definitely paying close attention. Kind of sad that Touch Bar is gone, meaning I have to take extra care to my M1 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

This year’s iPhone upgrade will be a modest one. I kind of want 5G but paying specifically for it isn’t feeling right to me.

As for iPad, M1 will be plentiful for years to come, especially when iPadOS is so dumbed down.

I don’t upgrade Apple Watch without upgrading iPhone so will wait for another year.

No, please no removable key to use as a mouse. Laptops have trackpads. If you want to accessorize and carry a mouse thats on you. Don't make everyone else suffer for something most people won't use. Like Touchbar.
Yeah.... if you think about it? Apple has a long history of really doing a poor job with the user-interfaces for its machines. Odd, because their design is so well considered with almost everything else.

But look at the horrible mice they gave us over the years, from that "puck" mouse in the G4 era, to the "melted bar of soap with sharp edges" feel of the Magic Mouse. And they've failed on quite a few keyboard designs too, really. One of the best keyboards I ever typed on was the old Apple Extended Keyboard II with the ADB connector on it -- but you have to go WAY back in time for that one, and it seemed like a fluke even back then. Because the other common Apple keyboards of that era just weren't nearly as good or functional.

I've never really liked the trackpads on laptops, although especially with things like gesture support? They seem like one of the best ways to accomplish that. Nobody wants to try to move around a little mouse that's the size of a single keyboard key. But I could see a laptop with a mouse something like Microsoft's "Arc" mouse they sell for the Surfaces, except when it's folded flat, it would slide in and out of a slot on the laptop itself. Apple will probably never consider such a thing though, because the laptop couldn't be as thin.....

New MacBook Pros cool. Already got an M1 MBP 13” with 16GB of ram. Will wait for an M3X or M4 to upgrade. But interested to see what the new design looks like.

Your 2019 MBP probably doesn't have a dual core processor..
Hm, that's a bit on you though-- My 2012 cMBP didn't have a dual core processor (quad i7 3820qm). Died (water damage), and replaced it with a mid-2015 4870HQ, which is admittedly slower in practice because the thermals of this machine are terrible.

My guess is you run into similar (worse) throttling issues because Apple decided thinness was better than thermal headroom.

Hopefully their new machines will solve this problem if, by nothing else, through a much lower TDP.

I am still running my late 2016 MBP bought in early 17 with no issue whatsoever. What are you doing with your laptop?
Also still running a late 2016 MBP, but it did have to go back for the keyboard replacement. It will replace my wife’s 2012 MBA when the new laptops arrive.

😂 My 2013 MBP also works flawlessly! So well it’s hard to justify an upgrade…the thing just won’t die!
Im still on my 2013 MBP too. I think it was a great time to buy. Still going, just the rubber bezel around my screen is coming off as well as the screen anti reflective coating coming off, I didnt have time to take up the replacement service when it was on and its only really on the sides where there's no screen anyway.

I think my graphics are failing though... I just know I will have to upgrade at some point but will be nice to make this last as long as I can.

That’s great, we have gotten a lot of use from our 13s. Mine is in great shape, and believe it or not I’m still on the original battery. I did video editing the other night for 2 hours and still had half the battery left. Power cord is super frayed though. I may keep going with it, just have to see how I feel when the new laptops are released. Cheers!

My battery went from "critical" or whatever it says to normal after some MacOS updates!

They already tried that "removable key" with the first gen butterfly keyboard. It had plenty of them. Too bad you couldn't stick them back again. Nor did they work as pointing devices. Still useful in shutting up annoying loud people near you with a well aimed throw.
