I use a fully load Waterfield Sleevecase, i.e. the flap, leather, and d-rings.
It sits in my main laptop bag / suitcase, etc as a sleeve, but when I want to travel light, I yank it out, put the strap and boom - super light laptop bag (that holds nothing else really)

Add another one for the Waterfield sleeve. I've had mine about 2 years and it still looks brand new

Waterfield looks like a good option... I just wish there was a little bit of extra space for a charger or something of the type.

Waterfield Sleeve, Horizontal 13', Flap, D-ring and strap.

SFBag story. Items would slip out of the back pocket of my sleeve if they were different sizes. Called them with the issue. They offered to sew in a velcro closure for 15 bucks.
What I didn't know was SFBags can't retrofit a bag. They actually built me a new bag with the velcro closure added to it. Received it in about 3 days. Superb customer service.

One vote for the Acme Made Skinny Sleeve from me. I have one for my 11-inch MBA and really like it. It's not too bulky and is still pretty protective. I like that it has some light reinforcement in the sides in the form of thin plastic sheets to protect against light dings and bumps. I use it with bags that don't have a dedicated laptop compartment and have not worried about it once (nor has anything happened to my MBA in it).

This case is tops: BE.EX LA Robe Air
Using on MBA 13 for over a year.
Will get one for my rMBP.
Great low viscosity foam.

This is the sleeve I know and love; easy in and out, no zippers to scratch or damage your macbook air. Easy to store in my backpack and go.

Its the inside of incase cases that's always nice.
Think the LA Robe Air is way more protective.

I've had all three with my 13" MBAs. If these are your only options, go with the Waterfield.

The Acme actually stained my Wrapsol-covered MBA. I had to replace the Wrapsol.

The LA Robe is wonderful ... but wonderfully bulky as well. It's overkill in my view, but I know others who swear by it.

That leaves the Waterfield. While I'm not a fan of either the material or the style, it's probably the best choice of the three ... it won't stain anything, and you won't dislocate your fingers trying to hold it in one hand.

I use a Beyza sleeve (www.beyzacases.com) for my MBA 11", but it's expensive and not to everyone's taste. If I owned a 13" I would opt for an Incipio Slim Sleeve, but again, not everyone likes the style. I would have bought one for my 11" if I could have gotten the same burnt orange in that size.

Best wishes!

I have an STM Jacket for my iPad. I am going to get the same for my new Air. Comes in 3 colors. Fairly slim. Has a vertical handle (at the top), a doc pouch on the back and a small zippered pouch on the front (you could put charger or iPhone in there). As slim or standalone as you need. Inexpensive. Well made. And comes with a detachable shoulder strap. Though I never use mine on the iPad.

MicroCenter carries them in stores if you have one near you.
