i 2nd waiting for next year, that is the really big upgrade coming, going back to qualcomm chip, right now 11 lags behind samsung s10 in every lte test. possible always on like the series 5 watch, underscreen finger scanner, redesigned body, and my biggest hope, smaller notch. if you can wait for another year i really would. this year is really the worst year to upgrade.

How long did you have your Xr for?
Been using one on and off for about 4 months now at work. They’ve replaced the iPhone 7’s the company supplied previously. It’s a really good phone from my experience and worth every penny. My personal phone is an 8+ and it’s close to that in quality I would say.

Edit: Added pic, the lovely blue which Apple have strangely dropped which is weird as it’s been the most common colour I’ve seen out and about.

The 11 Pro is the largest phone I'd want to lug around... If the 11 were the same size, I would have saved some cash and got it...

That is the exact reason I got the 11 Pro. I've tried the XR and 11 at my local Apple Store and it's just not comfortable in my hand. The XS/11 Pro is the sweet spot for me. If Apple made a 5.8" 11, I would jump on that in a heartbeat.

I have been using the 11 since release date and love it. For the first time since the phone was released, I was in an Apple store this weekend and was able to look at the Pro and Pro Max side by side with the 11. I have to tell you, I truly did not notice a material difference between the screens. The only tangible difference is the telephoto lens. The battery life on the 11 is great. That was my very quick conclusion.

I have an 11, it has been a great phone. I can go about 2 to 2 and a half days between charging it. Took my 11 off the charger Saturday morning (around 7am), went to a football game and tailgated before and after, got home late and then yesterday my day started at 6 am and I went all day and I just now plugged in my 11 to charge about 15 minutes ago (around 11:45am) and still had 5% battery left. And I use this phone a lot. I came from an 8 which died unexpectedly, and my local AT&T store had a few 11's in stock (they were out of Pro's) and I got one and have not looked back. It gets better reception than my 8, and the battery life is phenomenal and that is with WiFi and Bluetooth on all the time and using YouTube a lot. Since getting it I find my self opening the YouTube app more and more, lately been reviewing different types of generators. And even though I do not have the extra camera that the Pro has, the pictures have been outstanding.

I know there are a few differences between the two versions of the 11, but the main two that come to my mind without researching is the extra camera for telephoto and the screen type (OLED vs LCD). I think any version of the 11 you get will be good. They both have the same processor and memory and will last a long time in my opinion.

I struggled for a long time but I went with the Pro. I am big into photography and I wanted all the options and monthly is not that big of a difference. I went throught ATT. I wanted to do the Apple upgrade program but didn't want to have to deal with an additional credit account, etc. I figured if I am "stuck with one for at least 2 years" I might as well go with the Pro plus I got the option to upgrade if I wanted although it cost a little more.

I wasted a lot of time going back and forth "struggling". I'm really enjoying it so far. I didn't want to get the regular 11 and then kick myself for months and months because I didn't get the pro - especially for the work I do.

For me the choice was very clear, I like bigger screen (6 inches and above), good SoC, good camera and low entry point in terms cost(iPhone 11 scores like Pro Max in all of it! Being non 5G mobile, I felt like my replacement would happen earlier than later and resale value of a 4G mobile will be depreciated a lot down the line in my place! Also I liked 128 GB option hence went for iPhone 11, yes the display kind of sucks (have been using AMOLED QHD 6.4 Note 9 ) but iPhone Pro Max 256 costs exactly twice as much as iPhone 11 128 inMy place which I felt not a great choice!
If you have money go for iPhone Pro Max 256 if you have budget constraints like self, iPhone 11 128 is the better option

The question is weird. I understand budgeting to keep a phone for several years but out of your options one costs 1.5 to almost twice as much as the other.

So you can, for example, keep an 11 for 2 years or an 11 Pro for 3.5 years.

IMO the 11 will fare far better I over its budgeted lifetime than the Pro will.

The biggest problem with the Pro is that next year is expected to be a bigger than average update to the design. So unless you upgrade yearly then this year is the worst possible time to invest in a super premium phone.

Get an 11 now and keep your options open.
Why is everyone so sure about next years model !?

I went for the 11 Pro as I need the smallest new iPhone Apple makes. Came from an 8 and I love it so much more! Superb build quality, super quick, amazing battery life. My dad and my brother have the 11, it’s a great phone. Honestly think both devices are great, it just comes down to personal preference re cameras, screen and device size.

Same...

Bingo. I am really interested in the 11, since I would love a better battery (than my current Xs), and the cameras are totally irrelevant to me. However I tried the Xs Max, and that was just not usable as a daily driver due to the size - in fact as the poster above says, the Xs/11 Pro is the biggest size I can accommodate in my daily workflow.

So I'll sit this one out, and take stock again this time next year with the rumored re-design.

If you're going to use this phone for 2-3 years, I'd get the top model, which is the Pro.
That was my thinking too as well. Also I decided not to wait because it appears the next phone would have new tech in it and the 11 seems to be a more "polished" version 10 (which is really a version 9 - I think). I kinda foresee people having too many issues with the 2020 version at least for a year or so.

I had to buy a new phone this year because of the decease of my old X. I went with the pro because of the smaller footprint, I would have loved to get the 11 though. A smaller 11 with LCD and 128 gb of memory... mmmh, one can dream!

why? new tech is out every year...if you need a phone this year both these are great options.

yes But the intel modems on these and the other phones just prevent Me from wanting to buy these. My XR drops connection because of how garbage intels modems are
