Don't go for either. The V3 is being updated in September with 1.3 MP camera and a much improved interface, battery life and so on.

if you must though, go for the silver one. Black looks rubbish and defeats the whole techno neon look of the phone. I think a white one would look really good, incidentally.

T-Mobile's website has the Razr priced permanently (at least relatively so) at $199. I believe they only offer the silver, but I think that's a better look anyway. It goes with your pbook.

Their minutes are cheaper too (if you live in CA you can get 1000 for 39.99 plus nights & weekends). For disclosures sake I'd better admit that I work in a T-Mobile call center, but I have very little loyalty to the company. My recommendation is an honest one. :)

Also T-Mobile doesn't have 2 year contracts, only 1-year which is good. Unlike Cingular which makes you sign a 2-year.

Just picked it up!

Oh my! I am just speechless. The BLACK RAZR is SOOOO amazing! I am so glad I went with my gut-feeling and chose the black instead of silver, because it is just an unbelievable phone (in the looks department and as a phone- remember I'm moving from a 3 year-old V70).

To those who say the black will make the razr look cheap/out-dated, you're all wrong! The matte-finish makes this motorola look more like a BANG & OLUFSEN cell-phone. I find the chrome/black contrast to be pretty stylish, and the silver keypad looks great against the black surrounding.

I've come up with a similarity with the black RAZR and the 17" PowerBook; owners (like me) absolutely love the 17", while owners of the 12" 15" and others think it looks "bizarre".

My only complaint (this goes to the silver one too) is the slow start-up/shut-down time. My outdated V70 turned off/on must faster! Very strange.

When I was purchasing my new razr, I was talking to the Cingular saleslady, and apparently, they aren't advertising much about the black models, and have very few (well not as many) on stock. Apparently, when someone walks in requesting a RAZR, they will by default offer a new silver edition, and offer to sell the black version only upon request. maybe they are trying to make it a "limited" edition by keeping it exclusive? I don't get the logistics about that, since there's a huge poster w/ a black razr on the window...

but thanks for all the insight/opinions here! I'm just so glad that I picked the black model... for all those out there who were in my position and couldn't choose which color, I suggest you go to a store, see for yourself (you'll most likely choose black  )

I'm very happy right now :)

I recently got a RazR, and the silver wasn't even an option for me. The black is gorgeous!! The Cingular employee told me that the Black RazR is more advanced then the silver. He said the silver doesn't have EDGE, and some other things, that the black does.

Good for you! The Black RAZR looks VERY cool...

The slow start up/shut down is on ALL new Motorola phones (they all use the same software... kinda weird...) that don't have a lot of RAM... But soon you'll forget how long it is... it takes getting used to.

The black razr doesn't have EDGE and the only difference is that the black one has video playback but I think you can get the silver one re-flashed for the video playback.
