our vintage MacBook Pro is dying. We want to replace it... but with what...

MacAir 15" (or 17" if we could be so lucky)?
    Or
MacBook Pro 15" (or 17" if the price comes down)
    or
hold out another generation and get an iPad 2or3 for now.

95% is for email and internet. 5% of the time is actually work. (Photoshop)

i know...the trials and tribulations of FWP

Considering one of the three doesn't exist yet and another won't run full-fledged Photoshop, it seems like your decision is made for you. Go for the 15" MBP.

    Air

Seriously, an Air is too light for PSD?

My bad, I guess I've seen so much iPad mumbo jumbo that I developed a blind spot for it.

If a 15" air comes into existence then that will probably be one of the best notebooks on the market. But it's still hard to speculate about a product that doesn't exist yet lol.
