Note 8. iOS is for dummies

i would have disagreed with you until i saw the s8 my wife got. she has had every iphone through the 7 and she is now hooked on her s8. there is only one thing that keeps me on ios now and that is an app that i used in the past for my logbook that i am about to start using again.

That's the thing, once you give Android a chance and you learn it, no person in their right mind would go back to that locked up, deprived of features OS. One OS is bursting with features and options, as powerful as a laptop. The other feels like it was designed for 3rd graders...

you're right. im really considering the s8+ or note 8 now. i have my ipad that i can run my logbook app on once i go digital again so i wouldnt be without it just wouldnt be as convenient.

Not the biggest Samsung fan but If I went back to Android and had to pick a phone from this year, it'd be the S8 it looks great and feels great in the hand.

But personally I dont like Samsungs image processing, it looks off to me.

Get the Note man, I'd say for the price the Note8 seems better value.

If you go note in my opinion you have to go unlocked. The time I had an Android for a day. I hated the bloatware when you get a carrier device.

Beyond that it comes down to the services you use. Are you heavily invested in iOS or google services?

Hello everyone I am torn what to do as I currently have a iPhone 7 Plus and I have to say it has been the worst iPhone yet, overheats on me then shuts off when I am doing my business Facebook live.
There has been antenna issues galore on this phone dropped calls static etc, all my previous iPhone's have never had these issues.
I pre ordered the new 8 Plus but returned it because I didn't notice a difference between the two devices and felt like I was honestly holding my 7 plus. I also have a new car with a charging pad and the wireless charging wouldn't work on it because the plus is to wide.
Long story short I want to try the Note8 I know its a completely different phone but also curious if I should give the X a shot before making this decision as I am worried I won't be able to notice a big difference since Apple doesn't make huge upgrades on their phones lately (my personal opinion).
I do have a MacBook and a iPad so everything syncs seamlessly and I love that and can also answer text messages on my iPad if I am live for my business.
Has anyone on here had the Note8 and went back to iPhone or the other way around?
What is your opinion for my dilemma I am so torn I guess I am a Apple fan by heart but getting bored of the same stuff but feel the X may be what I am looking for it looks totally different.
Hoping the X will fit on my wireless charging pad, does anyone have a template that I could cutout and try in my car I know this was done a few years ago when the Plus was first released.

I have the note 8 now, and compared to all my iPhones including my 7 plus, it is the best device I have ever owned. It blows them out of the water with performance, battery life, screen, features, and so on. Well worth it!

whenever I go to Bestbuy and when i see note 8 I don’t feel like touching it, its so huge and out of shape plus the garbage sensitive android. With Samsung i keep trying not to touch the screen because of super sensitive screen and software. Plus the lag even with 4gb of ram and octa core processors. Even does good with less ram

No such thing as lag on the Note 8. 6gb of ram too.

Ones I switched from Android to iOS this year, I don’t miss android at all.
All my back ups are in one place in iCloud and it works really well.
With Android there were two back ups that I had to deal with; Google and Samsung and neither did a full back up.

Safari works really well compared to Chrome for mobile websites. Free adblockers that work well and no jailbreak required.

I got used to not having a “back” button. It was awkward first few weeks with out it.

Other than that, I love iOS. It’s simple and it works great.

One thing that’s great about Android phones, is that there are many options for everyone on any budget.

I’m hooked on iOS and I see no reason to go back.

I'm sticking with the Note 8 for sure. I have used iPhones for 10 years, but finally got fed up with really the same old thing from Apple year after year. Samsung has introduced many powerful productivity innovations in the Note 8. Do not miss my iPhone at all.There was a learning curve for sure, but after a few hours I was Note 8 and Android literate. Living just fine outside the captive Apple ecosystem. Still finding cool things every day.

Please explain “cool”!!!?! I didn’t see it with the S8+. It’s all a matter whether u want to tweak your phone how u want.

OP- Personally, u are pretty invested in the Apple ecosystem with your choice of Apple products. Find apps that work with your Note and the iPad, etc and u should be fine IMO

Samsung devices lags, i am sure samsung uses the best parts but its android who slow things down. Samsung needs to experiment by bringing its own OS.

Their own OS would be even worse. Have you ever used their TV’s? That’s their OS, it’s called Tizen. They’ve used it on their smart watches too. It’s terrible.

I see The advantage for users having the availability of the S-Pen being what makes the Note 8 unique. And of course, they're different operating platforms, but I think having differences is a good thing versus being too similar.

I have Sony smart TV i think it has android which is also laggy. They keep pushing updates which make software little better for sometime but then again same lag. Never used samsung smart tv, i believe it must not be good as you’re telling. The 2nd best OS which I used is of Microsoft it is fluid on phones and their tablets. It’s really strange that Google can’t make smooth OS, they are in development for many years now.

Umm that talk is from years ago. And the note 8 doesn't lag. My iPhone lagged actually. Lol

I don't have any of these issues. Screen sensitivity is just like my iPhone 7p, and in fact is more responsive (as opposed to sensitive). No lag, super fast. People that have not used the Note 8 should not be so quick to criticize it. It's never good to live your life with blinders on.

My Note 8 doesn't lag. I think you are maybe thinking of older devices. It would be a terrible idea for Samsung to build their own OS. They are running the most widely used mobile OS. They have added their own flavor to it, and the more I use their apps the more I find them to be better than stock Android in many cases.

This is correct. The OP asked for a "template" to experience the X. The S8 is roughly the same sized screen and form factor. If you are coming from a 7+, the Note 8 is about the same size overall but a little taller and narrower. This is easier to handle and use one handed. Its also very good for running two apps... video at the top 1/3, and another app below it (in portrait mode). Multitasking is very good on the Note 8.

To the OP, you said both that you were bored with iOS, and that you felt Android was too confusing. You need to pick one of those and go with it. Android is as confusing as you make it. You can use the Note 8 out of the box... watch about 2-3 hours of YouTube videos, and be fine. Or you can dive in and customize the heck out of it. My home screen and configuration started out being almost identical to my 6s+. But then I've started branching out. I now am running the Microsoft Launcher instead of Samsungs. I like being able to move icons around the home screen to make my home background more visible. It is such a nicer and cleaner look.

I may never go back to iOS after being on it for many years.
