I know that firefox has foxtorrent, and opera has a bittorrent downloader built-in, but I'm not really interested in switching browsers. I have looked
everywhere but to no avail for a plugin that integrates directly into safari that can handle torrents. Something like this must exist though right? Has anyone found one? (Perferably free :))

hmmm...I don't know of one for Safari. Transmission works like a charm though. Fast, simple, lightweight and the only torrent client I ever got working properly on a Mac.

FWIW As a both a happy Safari and a happy Transmission user I've created an extension to directly send a torrent link from within Safari via right-click to the latter. Of course, this only makes sense, if your Transmission instance is running on another machine (i.e. your router etc., otherwise you should just download the torrent and double-click it). If you want to check it out: Send to Transmission Safari extension
