AppleCare is included with every purchase, and is superior to everyone else in the industry. If you are going to nitpick, you might want to use the correct terminology.

I don’t know many people who buy Dell, so I can’t compare.

Where do you live where AppleCare is included in the price? AppleCare is $379 additional for MacBook Pros and $129 for iPads. I find it hard to believe you do not know anyone who uses a Dell or a business that uses Dell. Ditto for Lenovo and HP as all three area ahead of Apple in enterprise distribution. Apple is not all that is right with the world and people need to call them out when necessary.

AppleCare for Hardware is 1 year and is included in every purchase allowing you to call or visit a genius bar
90 days of telephone support is included or a $49 fee is assessed per incident (unchanged for 15 years) but if the issue post 90- days is determined to be hardware related, they wave the $49 charge and then have the customer send in for purchase.

AppleCare is a product extending the service to 3 years but to most people, that extension is not AppleCare, they're buying an extension of the included 1 year of AppleCare. I know it's semantics but only recently has apple introduced AppleCare+ which covers accidental damage but prior to that the 1 year to 3 year extension was just a warranty of parts and build quality, not accidental coverage.

I am not really sure that Apple Care or Apples Standard Warranty or however it is termed is superior to that of the competition. The standard Apple Care warrant is pretty much the industry’s standard 1 year, 90 day tech support, setup help, etc.

Apple Care+ is more expensive, has higher deductibles and shorter terms than many of the competitors. Lenovo, Microsoft and Dell for example offer cheaper warranties for the same number of years as Apple Care+, but their warranties can also be extended to 4-5 years rather than 3 and can include accidental damage and on-sight service. Apple also has the shortest standard return policy of any manufacturer as far as I know.

So I can appreciate Justin’s question about it.

I don't know if it is vastly superior (at least in UK) - and to be honest, it is an Apple and Oranges comparison since the cost of Apple's aftercare appears to not only be more expensive in the form of AppleCare, in addition I reckon they bake in quite a bit of $$$ into the product to cover the aftercare.
In my experience (UK) I would say it's significantly better than you get from buying directly from any other manufacturer. If you buy from John Lewis, then yes they offer a similar level of service and the benefit of 2 years guarantee, but that's complicit on them stocking the model/ configuration you are after in the first place, and in the case of big manufacturers like HP or Dell that's often not the case - the might stock the XPS or X360, but they will probably only have one or two configurations of it available, so you might have to go direct in order to get exactly what you want.

What happened with your macbook? I am having the exactly same issue.




This wasn't happening when I first got the machine. It's been reloaded twice, once from backup, once a fresh install. When I get up in the morning, it's glitching like this and actually a motion blocky thing near TouchID (I keep the lid open all night with screen off) and it's also now happening when I wake it up from sleep and it's not unlocked yet. It'll stay up for a minute or so after I'm working on things.

Should I reach out to AppleCare or is this some hidden message Im' supposed to understand?
