I recently had my 2016 Macbook Pro repaired by Apple as many keys on my mac were not working.

I got the Macbook back from repair and they replaced the top case, and battery.

The keyboard on this one has started having issues where keys stick such as the equal key, delete key etc...

Anyways I have Big Sur installed on here and I noticed on Beta 5 that my Touch Bar is no longer working, its not displaying anything.

I am not sure if this is a bug in Big Sur (and I just updated to Beta 6) or a problem with my computer. I would like to send it in and get the keyboard fixed again so that the keys don't stick anyways...

Anyone's Touch Bar not working in Big Sur Beta 6?

If I go into the Settings > Keyboard none of the Touch Bar stuff is even listed.

I did the SMC PRAM and NVRAM resets plus run the commands sudo killall controlstrip and get back a message that no matching processes were found.

Well I called Apple Support they kind of pissed me off...

Told me that even though I have AppleCare that because I loaded Beta software on my computer it may have voided my warranty.

Not sure how a Hardware issue can break hardware...

MY Touch Bar went blank after Big Sur. Even though if I touch it at the places where the icons are, they work, but there is no display, it just flashes during any screen wake. I think that somehow Big Sur has affected the hardware. I have tried all the resets and finally reverted to Catalina and still the same behaviour. its quite terrible.

You sure the person you spoke too knew what he was talking about?

Apple encourages people to install beta and public beta software, for testing purposes and feedback.

it’s not like you got the beta from a illegal source.

If that really is one of apples policy, it’s a load of BS, they even send out emails to people telling them to install beta software.

Off of apples website, I’d call them back and report the person who gave you false information.

Installing beta software doesn’t void your warranty.

Mine is not even working for touch. It's like its not there. If I run Diagnostics everything passes. Strange.

I have dealt with Apple support a lot over the years, but this was the worst support call I have had, I can't wait to get that follow up survey from Apple.

I formatted and went back to Catalina and the Touch Bar is still not working or seen by the computer in any way. :(

Oh well... repair box is on the way.

Hello everybody,

I currently have the same issue ...

I have a MacBook Pro 2018. I had my keyboard changed in July 2020.
Then installed the Mac OS Big Sur beta. It worked pretty well. But 1 week ago, I installed the lastest version of this beta and my touchbar started to have a strange behavior (see the attached file). Then the next day it was off but still tactile. Knowing the locations of the buttons I could still use it blind. And when I restarted my Mac everything worked again.
However after 2-3 days of bug, my touchbar has stopped working. I have re-installed Catalina thinking that it will fix the problem but I still have this problem. I don't even have Touch Bar settings in the keyboard settings...

My mac has just turned 2 years old so the warranty will no longer work.
Do you have any idea what I can do?
