That's awesome. Can I paste and match style with a short cut yet? If not, I'm going to have to stick with Office 2011. Because of productivity.

I did not try it, but the paste and match style button is on the touchbar.

Esc should always be justified at far left and siri far right so you don't have to even look to hit them imho. People who use these keys often shouldn't have to look to hit them.

Wow really good to see MS doing this, would never before have described them as quick with the Mac office products.

It's a new Microsoft, and Apple needs to pay attention. They are firing on so many cylinders, it's crazy.

I agree with this. Is the far-left of the Touch Bar responsive, even though the visible key is not that far over? I need to know this, because I'm a heavy "blind Esc presser".

Yeah, I think it's really easy to hit (on purpose, that is). The responsive area is definitely larger than the button itself.

So, anybody got a touch Bar? Is it useful?

Nope. Not really.
In retrospect, had the 15-inch been available without Touch Bar, that is the one, I should have bought. I much prefer the old, physical keys.

Touch-ID is nice, though.

(I've used my 15-inch for 2,5 months now).

Outlook has very limited touch bar support. Start a new message. Click in the To or CC field. Yeah, that's real useful.

umm.. nothing. Really, nothing. Please send a screen grab if you are getting something! I may just reinstall the entire suite, then.

Great to read this story and also the generally positive remarks. :) No doubt like most others I would like to see many more popular applications coming to TouchBar, but fear there may still be only a few at the time of all MBP 13" & 15" refreshes by year end. :(

I see that you do not need to hit the "esc" at all. Just touch the touch bar where your muscle memory takes you for the esc key and it will get registered, every single time.

On my Touch Bar Mac with yesterdays update installed, when I click on either the To or CC field (and only these two fields) the Touch Bar shows the emoji icon directly to the right of the Esc. Then on the far right of the Touch Bar next to the Screen Brightness is the <keyboard that does the word fill in. Both of these are totally useless in those two fields since you only are going to be entering an email address or part of a name to before clicking on the Check Names toolbar icon. The Subject field loses the emoji icon, keeps the <keyboard and in the message body the Touch Bar is empty other than Esc and Screen Brightness, Volume and Siri. Outlook is the application I use the most in Office so I'm looking forward to a future update so it matches Apple Mail & Calendar.

Exactly! That is precisely what I see too. This was so totally useless, I knew you are taking a dig at Microsoft, but just wanted to be sure. :p

Yeah, the entire left corner of the touchbar is the ESC key even if the part marked as the ESC key stops well short. I suppose they did this for design reasons, but it's silly. The other silly thing that annoys me about the new layout are the arrow keys. Having the left and right arrows as full sized keys next to half keys for the up and down arrows makes it much harder to find them by touch. I'm constantly pressing the shift key when I want to cursor up.

Anyway. I'm glad that for once my MS Office update isn't a security update or for fixing a major bug. I don't use the suite all that often so it seems like every time I fire it up, I have to wait for software updates.

Hi, does anyone know Microsoft Word shows special characters or equations formatting on the touch bar on this update? I use these functions a lot......

In Excel I cannot see a file item to allow customizing the touch bar. Can anyone guide me.

I know this is an old thread, but my question has to do with using the touchbar with Microsoft Word for Mac.

Some of the functionality of the touchbar in Word is sometimes useful. My question is about touchID.

With Pages I can use my touchID to unlock a protected (locked) document. How do I use touchID to unlock a protected document in Word?

Thank you.
