I recently got myself a magic keyboard with Touch ID. Set it up, and it has been working flawlessly for some weeks. Today, it would not. When I open 'Touch ID and password' in System Settings, it looks like there has never been a fingerprint scanned, and the settings are all reset to off. Regular password is working fine, and so is everything else on the mac, it seems. Nothing significant has been changed recently, no crashes, power-outs, software installs, system upgrades…

I will scan a finger to create a new Touch ID and recreate the settings, just thought I'd put it out there first. Found nothing on the web. Any ideas are welcome.

This just happened to me when I installed the most recent developer beta. The difference is there is no option to even add a fingerprint or enable Touch ID.

Well, that would be a bug in the beta, then.

I created a new Touch ID last week, it was no problem, and is still working, for now.

Update. I did a restart and all is kosher again. Touch ID enabled and usable. BUT I did fill out a feedback, it should never have been disabled in the first place.
