i would bet that this is a software glitch related to the thumb/ palm detect they added for the mini ipad.

I could only reproduce it in the Mail app, not in Safari for example. (iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1)

And even in Mail I had to move my finger ridiculously fast. So for me this issue actually doesn't exist.

solution

I have found a solution for this problem:

Don't scroll as if a mad tiger is biting your tail.

I don't understand how this is news-worthy, or if anyone would ever notice/take issue with this.

It ruined several games. Fruit ninja, temple run, flick home run, infinity blade and others. If it's hardware I'm taking it back for the 4s.

No it doesn't. When do you ever quickly, without stopping, swipe frantically in a diagonal motion in any of those games? I hope you're joking...

I'm not sure if you're capable of having a conversation... It ****s up when I play these games all the time. It doesn't have to be continuous fast swiping. You obviously don't have any of these games.

I have all of them besides Flick Home Run, and have never had a problem whatsoever. Either you're imagining things or you have a more severe issue than the one posted.

Well then it wouldn't be a hardware issue, would it?
Sure, just like my original post it could be either one. Could be hardware and only certain batches were effected. Hope that's the case, then I'll try a new 5. lol stop trying to be right and just agree it could be any of these opinions that could be the issue.

My main opinion is that the 5's software is different than the 4s so "maybe" it's with apples software version.

life is hard

Life must be so hard for people on MacRumors unable to play fruit ninja on their brand new iPhone 5's and being taxed 3% more on their $250,000 income that the poor $175,000 crowd. Life is so hard.

The issue is replicable for me in scrolling apps, but I'm not sure it manifested in game in Fruit Ninja - like it's more a bug in scrolling response, not touch screen.

At any rate, I still think it's a knee-jerk reaction. Even if it did ruin those games, I think the phone itself is a marvel and would not downgrade my phone for the handful of software that it would actually manifest as an issue.

Worse camera, screen, form factor, speed, RAM, processor etc for a few games?

Damn all the iPhone 5 owners are getting defensive and then claiming they cant recreate the issue. Calm down.

Anyways, again, I always say this, it's best to be on the S cycle.

When a phone moves to a whole different display, and not only size difference, mistakes in design are going to happen. This is the first "try" of this design. By the time the 5S is being built, all the problems that people were complaining about on the iPhone 5 that caused Apple to lose money and caused countless phone swaps, all those problems will be worked out. Now will there be problems with the 5S? Sure, there always is.

Even though this might not be considered "serious", you can obviously tell in the video that the 5 was getting caught up and even froze, while the 4S could have done it for days it seemed. Many iPhone 5 owners have even complained on here that the touch sensitivity seemed different and not as responsive as the 4S. I dont own a 5, so I cant do any extensive testing myself.

I think the 5 looks awesome, and I cant wait for my 5S, but I'm not upset that I still have a 4S. I think the 5 was a bit rushed, I think they were thinking more about the "cool" factor rather than what will work. The one thing I loved about Apple THE MOST when it came to their products is the hardware, the design, the seamlessness and quality/reliability. They are straying away from that a bit.

True, I probably wouldn't downgrade lol. Just an over reaction and frustration. This person sums it up the best in my opinion.

I couldn't reproduce this behavior on my iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.1.

That's because you never get more than 500 points / game in Arcade.

Try getting 1,500+ points / game .. easy to do on 4S .. hard to do on 5 ...

Good thing I don't play Fruit Ninja, but then again I don't have an iPhone 5 either...
