I updated my iTouch last night with 2.0 and after a lot of problems with backing up and restoring I finally got it up and running (I didn't bother with syncing the backup, it wouldn't work, so I just took the option "Set up as new iPod").

Every time I try and sync my songs back onto the iPod it will get around 15 done then say something along the lines of "Cannot sync to iPod. Files cannot be read or written to". Either that, or it will say the iPod is disconnected.

Is this a problem brought upon by 2.0 or is it a hardware issue and warrants a replacement (i'm still under warranty)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I had problems with my syncing as well. Once it told me the iPod could not be found so i restored it. Now it says that it cant sync mail because "an error occurred mapping record identifiers." Whatever that means.

Gyser,

I have the exact same problem. After trying to sync 10-100 songs ITunes just gives up and says "Files cannot be read or written to". Eventually I did sync all 1600 songs but my album art is all scrambled. Displaying a slipknot album cover while listening to Jack Johnson just isn't cutting it.

History: 1.1.2 Jailbroken --> Restored to 1.1.2 Legit --> Upgraded to 2.0. Set up as new iPod.

I had a similar problem (amongst many others). Try setting Auto-Lock to "Never" when you are syncing. I had mine set to 5 minutes when I was experiencing this particular issue and when I changed it to never it seemed to help.

Groundhog day

When I plug my Touch in to sync it takes 4-5 minutes of spinning beachball before my Touch shows up in iTunes. Then it says I have purchased content on my touch that is not in my iTunes, do I want to back it up (free apps I loaded from home). Click on yes, it syncs and appears to be ok. Next day, the exact same scenario repeats for the same files. Its annoying, not catastrophic, but I'd like to get rid of this deja vu process. Anybody else get this too?

itouch won't sync with itunes

I have a problem syncing as well. Every other time I plug my iTouch in iTunes tells me it won't sync my iPhone. Yeah, I don't have an iPhone. On THursday everything was great I loaded books for the weekend and now today iTunes won't even recognize that I've plugged in, except once when I tried to turn everything off and start again it made the iPhone comment. This occurs every other time I try to load stuff. If it works like all the other times all I have to do is a wait a few weeks and try again and everything will work perfectly. Is this linked to updates in iTunes?
