So I'm still not sure what touchID can improve in my life besides the fast log in. Therefore, a question, or a couple of: is it possible to use touchID to log into sites like MacRumors or amazon? Apple Pay is supported, but we don't have Apple Pay here in Europe, so what benefit would that give me? Can I use it to store credit card info?

I haven't got my MBP yet but I'm sure TouchID can be used with iCloud Keychain. It has already been implemented to 1password. Both are ways of storing all of your passwords behind one master password. Now that your master password uses TouchID you basically get automatic login everywhere.

I thought Keychain just autofilled your login data, so I thought it was unsafe. And I thought 1password just kept everything in a safe, but I guess I should read up on both.

Yes, I don't use either of those so I'm not 100% how they work. I think iCloud keychain gets unlocked when you unlock your computer. 1password asks for your master password everytime you login to any service.

I just wish Safari would let me save the password to the extent that 1Password does. Seems that 1Password lets you save your password for ANY site, where as the built-in password manager in Safari is hit or miss depending on the site.

Anyone see issues with not getting TouchID prompts for certain system preference password prompts?

I'm having trouble setting my touch ID up on my MBP. I hit "add fingerprint" and enter my password and then nothing happens...so I repeat the process and a message pops up saying "Canceled by another authentication."

Is it possible to set touch ID to work 100% of the time for unlocking the MBP?
Right now I keep getting the request to enter a password before I can use touch id...this occurs every time the computer is idle for an extended period.

In System Pref/Touch ID...there are no settings other than adding finger prints or turning on/off touch id for unlocking, apple pay and iTunes. I have all 3 selected.

I had exactly the same problem. Spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support. Solution in my case: reset NVRAM. That cured the problem and I now have my Touch ID working.
