I have a 2GB iPod Nano and it is almost filled up. This is my first iPod and when I got it I wasnt really into music and didnt think I needed a lot of capacity. Turns out I go crazy downloading and get into music. I also download and rip a lot of techno which is long and takes up a lot of space. I want to get one the video iPods but I have heard a lot about the touchscreen iPod that comes out after the iPhone later on in the year. I have heard that the video is overdue also so even if it is not touchscreen its an update. I can hold on until Christmas so I can wait. I want to know if it could come out around or before that time or if I should get the current model. I just dont want to buy the old one and then get it replaced a month later because those type of things happen to me all the time.:)

No one has any clue when an update will come. Nor do they know what that update will be. Anyone that tells you any different has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

My motto is "buy it when you need it". If your current iPod if fine, I'd keep using it. If you really need a bigger/newer one, then I'd get a new one. You could be waiting 1 month, 2 years, or 10 years for a touchscreen iPod. Personally, I find that waiting sucks because you could be using a new iPod now (assuming you need it).

Well if it wont be a touchscreen iPod. Then I mean the next ipod model. I dont mean that I want the touchscreen iPod. I was just assuming it would problably be one. But I am just asking if I should wait for the next iPod whatever it will be like, touchscreen or not, since its kind of overdue.

id wait, since you said it shouldnt be too hard for u to hold off, you mays well. but if i were you, id go for that sexy 8 gb black nano. pretty hard for the average person to fill since it only plays music and pictures.

i think we will see a major update to the entire iPod line before the year is out. if you can wait, wait.

But I have always wanted to play videos on it.

If you go out and buy a video iPod now, it won't be a "month" before you replace it, that's for sure. Can you wait between 7 and 12 months? That's about how long it will take for touchscreen iPods to come out.

Personally, I couldn't wait if I wasn't happy with my current iPod. If you buy a new one now, you'll get up to a year's worth of enjoyment out of it before you replace it, and when you do, you'll be able to see your iPod for a good fraction of the price.

The larger the audio track the more strain it is on the battery just a note for someone else with long tracks. I think Apple suggests keeping them within 9MB or lower.
