Hi all. I've had my 3GS since last Aug so it's approaching 1 year old. I have the 16GB model...version 3.0.1 firmware.

I have about 500MB free space on it while normally having about 1GB...all of this space is music and about 200 photos.

I've found over the past 3+ weeks that the virtual button to take a picture never responds about 30% of the time...I have to shut down the camera and start it back up again and magically the button will snap a photo. Totally bizarre. At first I thought it was just my finger or maybe a spot on the glass but alas no. Now I am finding that other areas of the screen are failing to respond...again, totally random and I can't do a particular set of steps to reproduce it. The button doesn't even "depress"...nothing happens whatsoever on the glass.

Has anyone seen this? The phone has not been dropped and I probably haven't added or updated any apps since April.

I figure I could bring this to Apple for a free (?) repair but:

1)I don't want them giving me some used/refurbished shell/glass...my iPhone is in pristine condition.

2)Driving 30+ miles to an Apple store, having them repair it for a few days, and then going back is not my idea of fun...as well as them having access to my data...as well as not having a phone for several days.

Any ideas on what the problem may be...or if you've heard/seen this before?

Thanks so much in advance!

-Eric
