I've also been making progress with my multi-touch table. I added more LEDs so it's more accurate but it also increases the number of defects in the glass the camera detects (the glass is really old, I just found it in our garage) so you need to press a little harder than before but it's still very sensitive.

OP: What software are you using?

Alex's touchlib cpu performance mod. :)
So today I made a bit of progress, yet not as much as I'd like to.
I bought the right kind of camera I needed (Microsoft Life-Cam VX-3000) and modified the lens to make it an infrared camera. That camera was fairly easy to take apart.
I also bought the mirror I needed to reflect the image onto the glass. :) It isn't first surface but it will have to do.
In terms of building, I didn't do much. I just added a mount on the projector to make it aim towards the glass. Very small but simple stuff. Hope to get more done tomorrow, but as of right now everything is going well.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the iSight for if you plan on using the Lifecam?

I dont want it. Does anyone want it for $100? Anyways I now have EVERYTHING I need! :D I have just the right glass and a first surface mirror. It seems everything is coming to reality. This is exciting.

As of today. I'm putting a hold on everything until I get input from the camera. I have to wait for the infrared illuminators to come through the mail so the camera can detect the light. Let this diagram show you:

i was lookin for a isight at one point but i dont have $200 :p and i guess i dont need one for my emac i got my macbook lol, but thats pretty cool how it works ^^^

Hey just found this and am really interested how the project turns out!

Keep the pics coming in!

This is by far the most technologically advanced project I've seen in a while, I know it's been iterated several times over but keep up the good work and can't wait to see the final product.

did the construction stop?

Well temporarily. I can't go much further without making some more money. Could anyone donate to me? :) http://techblog123.blogspot.com/ It's on the right page. All I am really lacking is those darn infrared illuminators. I can't work saturday because I'm going to be faithful to my Apple oats and go to Mississippi's first Apple store's grand opening. :)

There's an Apple Store opening in Mississippi?! Where? That's my home state! I just recently (3 years ago) moved to Memphis, but MS still holds a little piece of my heart!

Yeah! Come to Ridgeland and go to renisance colony park Saturday at 10:00 A.M. for grand opening! I'll be there! :D

Okay guys. I haven't done much work. I have to wait until the inferred illuminators come in the mail to see if the whole thing works before I can carry on with the painting, glossing etc;

Multi-touch is fairly easy to get into, just hard to get really good results. I'm 15 and made a fairly rudimentary one. (I think I'm the youngest in the world to make one) I think I'll try again now that software has been improved by quite a bit.
