That was a great stage going into Switzerland. :)

Well done to the FdJ for the stage win.

Cadel Evans is looking ominous - seems to be floating around the front of the field and staying there...

Cadel is riding smart, not loosing any time. But, I think he will attack and really "show his legs" in the time trial tomorrow. That is, after all, where he won last years tour. I am excited for tomorrow. TT's are my favorite!

It was a great stage today. Props to the solo efforts for what they did. It takes a lot to do that by yourself. I think Cadel has looked great but he seems to be waiting too much.

Cadel is riding smart but I think he's being too careful. He needs to take a few chances and get out there. Getting beat by Froome yesterday and not being able to drop Wiggins today didn't look very good. The time trial is his forte but I think Wiggins will ride even better and keep yellow til Wednesday at least. But the big moutains can change everything.

Wiggins already destroyed Evans once this season in a similar length TT so should be fun but I think the later TT will be more telling.

Wow. Wiggins really pushed for that win. I believe that was his first stage win in the TDF. Very good effort. I wonder if some of that consistency comes from his track background. Just a much stronger ride than Cadel.

It will be interesting to see if Cadel can contend while in the mountains. I have a feeling that Wiggins might not have the legs for a weeks worth of climbing. And lets not count of some of these amateurs!

This should be an exciting week.

Wiggins will do as well as Cadel in the mountains, especially with how well his team is setting him up. I know Froome only got second but he rode an insane pace. Surprise rider of the tour. It's too bad Fabian lost his radio. He could have beaten these guys but their coaches do so much for motivation and keeping them on pace that any one of them would have lost without it.

That's less than shocking. I don't know this rider specifically but this is pretty common lately. Contador "won" the tour and he's be banned for two years. The tour officials are probably happy its a less than well known rider. NBD

He's a former Astana rider too. Another report suggests it was drug trafficking, rather than using. Let's see what the official announcements say.

Meanwhile, in other news - the Chef of the BMC team stepped in to put out a fire behind the drivers cabin of the team truck (according to reports). The truck apparently carried the bicycles and everything else the team needed. The fire was reportedly caused by a short circuit.

Two words for todays ride. Jens Voigt. Amazing ride to catch back onto the leaders and tear the group apart. Too bad he couldn't win the stage but an insane ride either way.

Impressive riding by all of the break away today and especially Voeckler. Have to respect that man's ability and second efforts.

The same goes for Voigt, you're right. I thought he might take the stage for awhile!

Voigt had some very interesting tactics by basically finishing by himself but not many riders could have torn up the breakaway the way he did. If he hadn't arrived they would have all approached the finish together and had a nice sprint finish but he forced every bit of effort out of himself and all for. In his famous words. "Shut up legs"

Wiggo gained even more time on Cadel today. Europcar also got another stage win, turning into an interesting tour.

Cadel is done for and he should stop killing Tejays' chances. Tejay could have hung with those leaders and not lost his own time after Cadel blew up. I get that's he's the favorite and deserved some help but that was just stupid. Hopefully after today Cadel starts looking after Tejay because he's clearly in better form.

Hey guys, just thought I'd mention that tomorrow will be 45 years since the collapse and passing of Tommy Simpson. Let's hope Wiggins can do what Simpson set out to do in '67.

I hope those responsible for todays's tack sabotage are caught and severely punished. These are rider's lives at stake, ****ers!

I know - idiots they are! It's the me generation, selfishly caring about nobody other than themselves. My guess is there will be hundreds of copy-cat incidents on cycling paths all around Australia.

Looks like it was actually nails. Thats absolutely terrible. I'm surprised Wiggins didn't have something worse to say after the race based on his crazy outburst a week ago. I can't imagine hating a sport so much that you actually climb a moutian early and put nails on the roadway to sabotage it. And then the riders slapped whoever in the face by not letting it ruin the day and keeping all the effected riders together.

Little b******s. I feel so sorry for Cadel, and for Tejay - he never should've left him behind, selfish & idiotic. It's a team sport. @dejo - They'll never get caught, there's no point in even wasting the police's time on it. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

You don't live in Australia obviously. Cyclists here are the be all and end all of evils. We have shock-jock radio and newspaper identities stirring up hatred against us, car drivers demanding we pay registration to use the roads (most cyclists do already - they drive a car), and governments don't do much to stop the hatred, they just quietly stoke the fire. There's political mileage to be made out of being anti-Sydney-city council and anti Clover Moore's brilliant cycling policies. And so the state government makes anti Clover Moore statements with respect to her plans for bike lanes/paths - and all the crazy people come out of the woodwork.

Cyclists exist to be run-down, yelled at, have things thrown at us or otherwise run off the road or into the gutter by car drivers who laugh when they do it...

I hate it. What's the bet it was Australians who did this? Call me cynical - but nothing surprises me anymore.

Good on Wiggins for calling a stop and nullifying the incident. Much respect to him.

Edit: Perhaps I was too pessimistic:

They are pointing the finger at others now...

I didnt see any quotes/tweets that were out of line. Considering one rider broke his colorbone as a result I'd be pretty upset too. Scary stuff.

Not sure I understand your reply. I agree that the tacks are way out of line - but I'm not really surprised by that happening. It's a shame.

I meant the riders could have been a lot more brutal towards whoever did it. I'm very surprised it happened. Especially where it did and the fact that they were placed after the breakaway went by.
