I noticed no-one on here has experienced this yet, so it's worth putting together a thread about it.

Earlier this week my macbook air 11" trackpad stopped clicking on the left-hand side. There wasn't any warning signs, just worked the night before, then stopped "clicking" the next day. I was still able to use the tap-to-click feature so it wasn't a blocker, but an annoyance. I thought maybe there was something stuck underneath, but they confirmed this wasn't the problem.

Their solution was to order a new trackpad, which came into their store 2 days later. They offered two options, 1) they would ship the air to be repaired and it would return roughly in 3-5 days or 2)return to the store when the part came in, I did the later. I am glad I did the second option because I received an email from apple stating the part was in at 11AM, I brought the air in for repair by 11:30AM and I received a call by 6PM and picked up the air within the hour.

The total cost for the trackpad replacement was $50 and a repair service fee of $40, but this was all covered by the 1-year warranty. Figured if this happens when your warranty is up, you have some reference.

I bought the air when it first was release, BTO back in October and I have used this laptop for work three days a week and DON'T use the trackpad (use mighty mouse and bt keyboard) and the two days a week I use the trackpad for about 8-10 hours a day, weekends I usually pull out the iPad.

I did travel with the macbook air for about 2.5 months three days a week on a reverse fanny pack I would wear under my jacket while biking in, that's only wear and tear I can think of. Other than that I use a sling bag when I commute via bus/train.

Hope this helps. Has anyone else experienced this problem yet or was I just the lucky one in a million

Just an update folks. This has happened to me again. Original problem arose in 4 months, second time in less than 2 months.

Maybe you did not really get a new one...but the same one that Apple feels they fixed.

Hard to imagine the same issue with 2 different trackpads in the same computer....something else is at work here.
