TrackPad Falsely Advertised by Apple

Just discovered a different statement by Apple:

"Unlike typical trackpads, this MacBook and MacBook Pro trackpad is a button in itself; you can click almost anywhere on the trackpad."

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3211

So which is it, the entire trackpad is clickable or almost anywhere on the trackpad is clickable? Apple is making contradicting statements.

Honestly, I'm thinking it probably depends on your laptop. I can press mine anywhere. With that being said, if it didn't, it wouldn't bother me in the least as I don't need to click in the upper areas of the trackpad ;).

I wonder if there is an adjustment to fix mine then. Because if I press any harder on the top left or right corners, the glass will break.

Maybe the click anywhere means tap-to-click so almost click anywhere just means click anywhere except on the under-side of the trackpad...

:p

Apple states on their site:

"Multi-Touch Trackpad
Constructed of smooth, touch-friendly, and wear-resistant glass, the MacBook Pro trackpad has no button. It is the button. So you can click it anywhere."

Notice the "So you can click it anywhere" statement.

I'm still not convinced.... but if I was in your shoes, I'd take those statements over to your nearest Apple store and start having fun. If you start with the assumption that you get nothing, and that this a lark (in other words, keep up unflinchingling good humour, have fun, don't take it personal, smile and laugh alot, but be relentless.) ... and when you are stumped for an answer tell the manager ('cause you gotta escalate this to management level - floor staff have no authority in this case) you are going for a coffee to think about what they said - then do think about it over coffee, and you should see a hole to exploit - and then come back and see the manager to point out the flaw...

But above all, keep it light... don't take it personally, assume you will get no satisfaction - but then see how far you can push it.

Just go away.....you are wasting bandwidth, and i'll never get the 15 seconds back it took to reply to your inane post.......:D

If you were stupid enough to read this... that is a reflection on you and nobody else. And how much time did you spend writing your reply, and then reading mine... and then writing your reply to my reply...

I may not agree with Resist, but if I thought it was a waste of time - I'd stop...

I said in a previous post I was going to do this. But I have no intention on trying to get anything out of it from Apple, other than maybe an explanation and my trackpad fixed if it's not functioning properly.

Sad day when people have nothing better to do than to complain about incredibly minor details that have no effect on anyone.

If you don't like the thread, then why are you reading it, let alone contributing negative comments to it?

I nominate this for the longest, the most ridiculous and totally the most useless thread ever posted. ... let's have a show of hands here.

The bottom line is ... Apple's Trackpad is the best there has ever been on any Laptop ... there is not even a close second.

just keeping the thread alive ...

man, i dont know what you want from us. just go ahead and sue them...
Then apparently you have not been reading my posts. I already stated I wasn't interested in taking Apple to court over this issue.

And to those that think this is a useless thread, I have to ask why you keep reading and then posting to it if it's so useless?
