So, i just noticed this about..a week ago.
Sometimes after leaving my computer for a bit...when i get back the trackpad acts goofy.
It's barely responsive, lags, and needs to be almost warmed up to being used.
After running my finger on it for about 30 seconds it finally starts working, and during continual use its fine.

Just kinda a weird thing, maybe static electricity's affecting it (all that static does build up since its winter and all)

any ideas anyone?

My PowerBook kept shocking me, and then the trackpad wouldn't work. Eventually, I started to ground myself on a metal plate before I touch my PowerBook.

maybe that would help?

It's pretty drastic but when my track pad is playing up (iBook G4), I reset the PMU. It works every time, but it may be overkill. 🙂
Hey, thanks mad jew; I had a customer call me with a dead iBook trackpad and the linked procedure worked a treat.

No problems. From what I've seen, P2P apps play havoc with track pads. I don't use any so I haven't done too many tests, but nevertheless the relationship's interesting if a little eerie.
