So, I was watching a show with my new MacBook Pro 16" 2021 when my flashlight (not that big) from my top shelf dropped and hit my trackpad. worst thing, it was a metal flashlight. After further inspection, it seems like it chipped the paint or something. As you can see from the pictures below. It didn't seem to crack the trackpad, but chipped the paint. I'm pretty sure because when i ran my fingers on it i can't feel a difference but if I use my finger nails and run it slowly i can kinda feel a resistance .

The trackpad still works like usual. even on the place of impact it's like nothing has happened in terms of functionality. Force touch works fine etc.

What do you guys think? do you guys think it's also just a paint that's chipped? my plan is to just use a trackpad skin on in to cover it since it doesn't affect the functionality at all. but again, any input is appreciated. Thank you

I would just accept it as a ‘battle scar’ and move on.

Unlucky, but it could have been worse.
Yep. What do you think? Does it look like the paint chipped? Or do you think it's the trackpad itself but so little that it didn't crack at all?

If I'm not mistaken the trackpad is GLASS so it isn't a paint chip?
That's the thing. I heard that it's glass and it's painted to match the silver coloring of the MacBook.

It is glass but on my case it didn't crack. Which makes me think it's either a paint chip or it's just scuffed on the top layer which show the differences in color but I can't really feel if it's cracked. I can only feel a little resistance if I ran my fingernail on it

What do you think?

It looks like a small mark from the flashlight impact..
Yeah. It does. That's why I'm confused since it could be just a mark like because of the scuffed top layer or something. Good thing tho it's not cracked it looks like. Which means it shouldn't be able to spread etc. And it's just a cosmetic thing if it is just a scuffed top layer.

I believe the pained surface is underneath the glass. it MAY buff out, possibly its pain from the flashlight?

I thought it could be the paint of the flashlight since the flashlight is black. But I tried using a microfiber and buffing it and nothing. Tried with alcohol too

? Then I wouldn't be able to use my new MacBook again... :(
don't worry if you lose your eyesight apple's accessibility features are top notch.

but seriously - yeah you chipped your glass. nothing you can do about it. oh well, call it patina and move forward.

Yeh it should be fine right? Unlike a crack where it would spread probably..
