I can't even see any scratch damage in that picture...all I see is what looks like corrosive damage to the AR coating possibly from the toothpaste.

Apple Genius confirmed that it comes from the trackpad rubbing on the display damaging the coating.

Case for repair: display coating rubbs more and more off

Consider yourself very lucky. I still suspect that when you set your bag down, the books were weighing down on your lid.

As for shaking your computer, I hope you are not doing that with the system up and running. You should avoid shaking a HDD...this obviously does not apply to SSD.

Speaking of, since you shook your system, you should run a full diagnostic to make sure everything on your mother boards and system didn't shake loose or caused irreparable damage....yes.

well the genius shook it too when it was turned on to hear the sound i was talking about. (ssd btw) and they did run an hardwate test and it was all fine. the battery just fell out when he opened it to see what could be making the sound and he was like O M G

also shouldnt a 1.900€ laptop be able to handle some pressure especially since i NEVER carry it in a bag without the soft sleeve i always put it in.

Sums my thoughts up pretty succinctly too, though as I find the knowledge of nearly all the Genius aside from a few Lead type exceptions being pretty utterly clueless about anything that isn't really easy like water ingress on an iOS device - so you obviously didn't get one of the clever ones. Though the battery falling out probably helped a lot for the drama convincing them lol!

A lucky escape, change the way you pack your MBP so it doesn't get compressed and steer clear of Colgate and other fairy tales you find others doing on youtube :D

he was actually very nice. first he run the hardware test and it was all fine and then he brought it to the back for about 15 to 20 minutes to do some tests and to talk to the manager
