the huge tap TP is by far the favorite feature for me on apples lineup. So much so, that it really kills all other laptop experiences.

I always tap. I'll click the glass trackpad when I'm bored. My girlfriend clicks the trackpad regardless of what I say so I don't bother anymore.

I find that clicking is faster as I move the cursor with one finger and then click with my thumb rather than having to lift up my finger and then tap.

Speaking of clicks, is it easier to click on the middle to bottom half of the trackpad, or was this just a display model flaw that I found?

Do You Click?

I was just wondering how many of you guys actually press down on the trackpad? I know it was something that I was a little worried about when getting the 17" because it is definitely louder, but I always find myself just tapping. I've never had to click once.

There was a thread with a poll a few months a ago and the majority was tapping.

You can also reduce the noise of the click by following these directions.

Personally, I click and tap. It depends on what I am doing. Clicking is a bit loud so in class I will always tap.

I tap because I'm afraid that I might click too hard and crack the glass! I do press and click when the taps are unresponsive.

I do a little of both, for something things i prefer to have the feedback like alphaod said. Then there is time where i just tap. all depends on the situation i guess

I always rest my fingers on the trackpad when not typing or when on-and-off scrolling. So I disabled tapping since half the time I made accidental clicks. Now I'm used to always clicking.

In using my dads new MBP (I haven't gotten mine yet) I use tap on pretty much every occasion except when I need to drag something, then I click with my thumb and drag with my index finger.

+1 for tapping. It drives me nuts when I have to use someone else's MBP and I have to click.

Interesting how strong the emotions are running on this one.

me too.I go off at them then help myself to the settings panel and change it.Especially if I'm showing someone how to do something.

I do the opposite and turn the tap to click off only if I'm gonna be using the computer for a long period of time though. I'm just not used to and I always accidentally tap when using other people's computers (Windows or Mac).

The new clicking of the latest 17" is absolutely horrible. A double click, couldn't bear it and had to return the machine.

Taping, for sure, but not willing to compromise for such an expensive piece of hardware.

Back with my PowerBook G4 17", as happy as one can be. And not too slow!

Apple has to do better to get my money.
