Trackpad unresponsive after reboot

Wondering if my unit is defective or if it is normal for the Apple TV remote's trackpad to be unresponsive after restart until I click the home button?
What happens after you reboot your Apple TV ?
 
Great to hear that as my previous Apple TV was replaced by Apple because defective
