Does anyone know why you can't trade in a 2019 13" MacBook Pro on Apple's site? I am assuming they will give me the most amount. I want to trade in my 2019 MBP (its the 1.4 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD) to get the new MBA because I don't need the power of the MBP. I go on Apple's trade in page and type in my Serial No. and it takes it then I chose MBP and it asks what year and Mid 2018 is the only option available. What gives? I googled other trade in sites and the most I've been able to find is $670. Is that highest I'll be able to get for my MBP? I also noticed when I tried to find the value of my 2018 iPad Pro 11" on Apple's trade in program, it wasn't on there either. I don't get why Apple won't buy their newest stuff.

I’d suggest selling on Swappa, as the fees are reasonable, and the market is active.

What are you looking to trade in the 13” Pro for?

I want to trade in my 2019 13” as well.

In this case it’s a bad idea because you’d be downgrading the screen (less bright, less color accuracy), the battery life, the performance (by a lot), the only differences would be the keyboard, slightly (very slightly) less weight, and Wifi 6, which nobody really uses at this point.

^ My in-asked-for $0.02, apologies in advance.

Are Swappa prices historically better than Apple’s trade-in?

What’s the best place to sell a used mac?

It's just weird that Apple would give $750 for a 2018 MBP but won't buy the 2019. That's why I want to sell it back to Apple because they give the most money. My keyboard has been fine luckily but I've been hearing horror stories about the keyboards failing so that's one of the reasons I want to get the new MBA. Is the new MBA really only slightly less weight than the 13" MBP? I remember the last time I had the MBA that it was very noticeable difference in thickness and weight.

Hardly no difference in weight between the two.

Rather keep the pro better screen and thermals.

Their is a lot of complaints in the MacBook Air forum about the thermals being terrible on the new air.

Just about to post mine on Swappa for $1049. I bought mine using the edu discount for $1270 (tax incl.) and got free Beats out of it. $221 loss for 3/4 of a year of use is not bad.

Putting this money towards an upgraded 14" when it comes out with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.

With Swappa you are selling directly to the ultimate buyer, so, yes, you get a better price. Apple’s trade in is to a third party that resells, so they price it in knowing that they will incur their own sales costs and need to earn a profit.

Swappa fees are fixed and payment is through PayPal, so it is reasonably safe. I’ve sold through eBay and Swappa and prefer the latter.

Sounds like a decent plan. Remember Swappa charges $35 and PayPal will take 3% of your sale proceeds. Plus factor another $15-20 to ship. But still not bad if you get that price.

It’s only a few ounces now. 2.8lbs vs 3lbs. The Air has the sloped design but the same footprint.

Is Swappa safe in terms of being scammed as a seller? IOW, my fear about selling expensive stuff on Ebay is that the buyer will pull the "I received a chunk of wood instead of a computer" thing, which I've heard almost always results in them getting a refund (and being able to keep the computer, of course).

eBay is horrible. For a number of reasons, untrustworthy buyers and sellers included.

Just read any of the widespread anecdotes regarding sellers’ experiences. I sell cheap laptops here and there but stay under $400 in value per item. Had one terrible experience with a buyer out of seven sales that I had to escalate to eBay.
