Other Trade in - Apple vs Macmeanoffer

Planning to trade in my iPhone XS max. Any pros and cons of the Apple trade in versus other 3rd party sites like Macmeanoffer?

The big advantage of trading in at the Apple Store (vs. any method that requires sending the phone somewhere) is that you get a firm price for the phone and you can use the credit on the spot. There are posts here about mail-in trade-ins where the expected price was not received because whoever received it felt it wasn't in the condition that the owner believed (and that includes Apple mail-in trade-ins).

There’s always a risk you are taking when you mail in your phone. Use places that you know are credible. Had a good experience with Macmeanoffer when I traded in my MBP.

How does it work if you order it online for in-store pickup with the trade in? When I go through the checkout, it still mentions them mailing me a box for the trade in. I am interested in downsizing from the XS Max to an 11 Pro, but I do not want to have to deal with the hassle/uncertainty of mailing in a device.

In that case, I believe they give you a gift card.

Fwiw, I've sold several Macs to macmeanoffer, and have had zero problems. They never gave me less than the quoted amount, and I've received the check within a week of two of them receiving the Mac.
