Anyone know of any trade-in news regarding recent model iPhone trade-ins to be put toward the upcoming 2018 phones? Rumors? I've just paid my current phones off and was looking for a more easy way to put $$ toward a new device. Not really interested in the Craigslist/private sale route.

Thx!

I'd love to know, I will most likely give my X to my wife, get a new plan with the XS plus and trade in her iPhone 7. Last year Verizon offered me $350 for the 7, which I thought was very good, and I got $450 for my 7 plus. This year I'd be ecstatic with $200 trade in, at least it will cover my taxes and apple care. They are still $285 or so on swappa. Although I always wonder if it's not better to just throw the 7 in a drawer and keep as a backup phone or let my daughter use it.

Hopefully Verizon has a nice trade in sale, they seem to have them often, and hopefully it's not attached to having to open a new line of service.

Gotta wait till after the new phones are announced. Check back next week

Maybe the day of release. Last year I overslept and didn't get the first round of X's on Apple's site. On a whim I drove down to Verizon on release morning and they had a few of them in stock and had a really nice trade in promotion of $450 for my 7 plus.

Cool, thx for sharing. Also hoping to get a little bonus on trade-in, both my wife and I have 7+ devices to turn in.

Hmm, I'm on the Jump or whatever it's called program since iPhone 6. Every year I show up on release day, give them my phone and they give me a new one and my payment is MSRP of phone divided by 24 w/ an ability to upgrade in 12 months of payments. OR live out the 24 and I own the phone.

I was thinking this year about maybe selling the iPhone 8+ that I got last year on launch day and paying my 24 months in full with the profit then paying in full for a new model so I'm off that plan. A little each month or all at once isn't really a big deal. Any one break the cycle?

They may offer 50% off the retail value of the X as the trade in, but we won't know till pre-orders open or just before.

Did the $450 go towards the retail price of the new phone purchase? New total phone price minus $450? Is that how it works?

No they are usually device payment credits that are divided by 24 months so if the trade in credit is 450 then divide that by 24 months, you would get 18.75 a month off the device payment on your bill for the next 24 months.

Ahhh okay, Thanks for the clarification!

Sort of, it was a straight $450 credit to my Verizon account, that's why I jumped right on it. Took about one billing period, but then I got almost 3 free months of service as my monthly bill was offset by the credit. So same as cash as I would have used cash to pay my monthly bill anyhow. I'm pretty sure I could have used that credit to buy another phone, but not the iPhone X I bought on that day, which I leased anyway. But as I said it did cover almost 3 monthly payments which included 3 lease payments for the new phone and my regular bill.
